Curse of big brother stalks Jeb Bush
Article from the UK Sunday Telegraph, it is a RW rag but this article may still be of some use to you guys. Make of this what you will.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/06/11/wjeb11.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/06/11/ixnews.html

He is a popular governor of a pivotal southern state, who has impressed with his leadership of hurricane relief efforts, is a charismatic speaker and a renowned policy expert - and is steeped in political campaigning.

Normally, such attributes and qualifications, along with his small government, libertarian brand of conservatism, would make him a front runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

But the governor of Florida, who has a popularity rating of 63 per cent in his home state, has one disadvantage that overshadows everything else - his surname is Bush.

Many Republicans fear that Jeb Bush, the younger brother of President George W Bush, whose approval ratings hover around a miserable 30 per cent, may never enter the White House because of a family name that has become more curse than blessing.

1. Uh, Jeb is not a libertarian... too much 'God' in his politics
Edited on Sun Jun-11-06 07:12 AM by ixion
just my two cents. :-)

In any case, the BFEE deserves this 'curse' for being the family to almost single-handedly destroy the US Republic. Something shady or underhanded going on on a National scale? You can bet your bottom dollar that somewhere there's a Bush involved.

Since the family seems so chummy with the House of Saud, my vote is to exile the lot of them to Saudi Arabia, or better yet send them all to a cell in the Hague to stand before the ICC for Crimes Against Humanity. Every last one of'em. :grr:

5. Bush's Beans are actually very good.
I'm not ashamed to say, I've bought and eaten them.

There are also probably very good people named Bush. Obviously not from the BFEE.

If my last name were Bush, I'd have changed it years ago. Seriously.

7. Poor, Poor Jebbie...
Poor, poor Jebbie...

Looks like the karma from helping to steal the 2000 election is making its way back around--and the 2006 hurricane season has barely even started.

:nopity: :nopity: :nopity: :nopity: :nopity: :nopity:

Oh, but karmic payback is a royal and imperial pain!

8. IMHO, he's running
The Standard has a Barnes article extolling the "Greatest Governor" and this is more than enough to reflect on the following.

They need a crony or MORE than a crony to keep a finger in the dike unless they really want to cross their fingers with someone else, even an idiot Republican not from the inner circle. They have systematically and not too subtly trashed and undercut all rivals even as they drew them "closer". That could be to keep them from developing leadership against their agenda but besides disciplining them to the Way it most be more than tempting to take it to the next step.

That step is making sure all the candidates destroy themselves and Jeb is practically begged to step in.
Not to worry about the kingmakers, they must all be in Bush's pocket. The sham of primaries can easily be
ruined, media favors reeled in to undercut and divide. Those odd scandals can just start resurfacing in timely fashion with zero Rove teflon and mysteriously vanishing donors.

The big trick is to make Jeb look like the reluctant bride, make the Dems equally bad, and totally set aside W's record or better, pick what's left of the shiny side and sink all the rest. A Hillary candidacy, whose starry excitement could eclipse all issues, would be ideal to reset the contest on an incredibly "even" footing- which means Jeb wins.

Don't think they are not considering it. Don't think they can't do it. Don't think the Dems or the GOP rivals will naturally face up to the direct, focused ruthlessness of the total power campaign.

They want it. They need it. They may very well get it based on the record of all other political rivals so far, where the GOP wannabes are like grotesque sniveling shadows of stand up, politically blind Democrats.

Definitely though, whether you agree or not, the feelers, the preparations and the groundwork of the masters of the GOP universe is being put in for Jeb. And who exactly is trying to stop him when he is not even personally moving yet? You may scoff at end scenario, but the Bush boys must make an effort at it anyway.

12. Recently, Jeb was offered the job of Commissioner for the NFL, a job
for which he has expressed strong interest in the past. He turned it down.

Any takers as to why?

About two days ago. Where the HELL is big headed Jeb? Once bantered around as keeping the Bush name and ass firmly afixed in the Oval office you hardly hear his name mentioned anymore.

Well...having your brother in the WH with approval ratings like the anchor of the Queen Mary around your neck would make anyone duck and cover. Unless something big happens to Chimps approval ratings I think Jeb will just keep on keeping on with his day job in Florida.

14. Jeb Bush is one of the signers on the PNAC
documents. There it is, in black and white. (I'm not even sure if Baby signed on those papers).

Jeb cast his lot with the rest of the corrupt criminal creeps of the PNAC.

Smart? My ass.

15. First, the UK Sunday Times.... now the UK Telegraph.....
Telegraph

By Toby Harnden in Washington
June 11, 2006

Jeb Bush was always considered by their father, President George H W Bush, to be the great political hope of the family. The president, 59, is said to be irritated by suggestions that Jeb, 53, is more cerebral and in greater command of policy detail.

At a Chicago event last month, a questioner noted that Jeb Bush, who is much bulkier than his brother, had been "very good to the restaurant industry". The president joked: "He has been eating a lot, I noticed."

There are signs, however, that Americans could be tiring of political dynasties, particularly if they are perceived as failed ones. Jeb Bush may now have to settle for being hailed as one of the best presidents America never had.

No, that's woefully incorrect, Mr. Harnden. While George W. Bush plays out his sibling rivalries and his Oedipal shortcomings with his father, hundreds of thousands of lives and America's reputation have been lost.

Here is the best President America never had.

17. The only way
is finally to hold the Bush crime family to acount. Period. Indictments and the whole truth. And clean house in Florida and Texas and all their bases.

Letting them off the hook for ANY reason will cost us unimaginable disasters in the near future.

WWI, WWII, etc. etc. without the Bushes and their friends? The world can only be a better place with a blinding spotlight and accountability. If that takes down some cherished pragamtic realism and rapproachements in elite circles then they would have also served a valuable purpose to mankind in taking the crap down with them.
