The Chris Matthews Show really pumping up an Obama '08 campaign!
I was pleasantly surprised how much the panel was doting on Obama. I'm beginning to think that the lack of a long paper trail on Obama is to his advantage. He has not ruled out any campaign in '08, so I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled the trigger if Hillary somehow flops.

16. Ahh! My dream ticket.
It would work on so many levels but I think that the best is that both of these gentlemen bring with them messages of hope.

3. Obama/Hillary -Their dream ticket?
They're probably hoping the south will turn out in droves to vote against a black man and a radically liberal upptity woman.

4. We don't need to run an INEXPERIENCED BLANK SLATE
"I'm beginning to think that the lack of a long paper trail on Obama is to his advantage."

Don't get me wrong, I like Obama, but I think this notion of running a tabula rasa is nuts. C'mon, Look at the blank slate we have in the White House now!!!!

6. Wasn't Matthews pumping HClinton just last week? Who's next?
Tricia Nixon?

Whether Obama becomes a candidate in 08 or not, maybe Matthews should consider letting the voters make their choice in the caucuses and primaries.

If that's not too traditional.

He just thrives with celebrity controversy.

12. I think the person who said (I can't remember who it was now) Obama is
running for VP is correct.

He doesn't have the long Senate paper trail.

He is charismatic and a great speaker.

It would be great for him to be the VP candidate and get 8 years of experience. Then I'd love to see that color ceiling blasted through on the presidency.

13. Pumping up Obama? More like slagging every other Democrat
According to Fat Head, Obama is the only Dem that can give a speech, and there are no other Democrats that can speak with passion and eloquence. I think there are a lot of Democrats in Texas today that would disagree with that idea.

Tweety. Feh!

Took me about five minutes to turn off the TV and go take a shower. I can't believe I gave that lick-spittle and his panel of nodding Beltway lapdogs five minutes of my time.

14. Well Obama is more charismatic than most
Not sure I could name 2 national politicians more charismatic than Obama. Bill Clinton can top him, but after that, it goes downhill.

Warner, Vilsack, Gore, Kerry, Bayh, etc., are all wonderful guys with good hearts, but they will put you to sleep fast. I wish we had more people on the national stage that can electrify a crowd.

listed have been known to give a dozer from time to time. My little joke about Kerry goes, "My fellow Americans, you are feeling verrrrry sleepy!"

OTOH, this crowd seems pretty electrified:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JpMV2G3TajA&search=wesley%20clark

From an attendee at the TX Dem Convention:

Wes had the crowd jumping at the Texas Democratic Party Convention. We kept trying to sit down but had to jump back up every few seconds. At one point, he had to ask us to let him continue because he had more that he wanted to say. He was relaxed and smiling during his speech. The best speech I have heard since Kennedy's Inagural. Awesome! Stupendous! He set the room on fire! By the way, David Van Os also gave a great speech. If anyone can find a video, David's speech is well worth seeing.

I say Clark in 08, I was beginning to lean toward Finegold, but Clark's Texas speech has set the standard that another candidate will have to beat to get my attention.

Here we've had field after field of uninspiring candidates...a guy like Barack Obama comes along and gives many of us new hope that we just might have a future winner...and people like you call him a whore just because he doesn't fit your own very limited version of what a presidential candidate should be like. Jayeeesus!!

23. What has he done? Two things few other Dems have done....
1) He ranks 6th out of 100 senators on voting progressively on all the issues, higher than any other potential Democratic candidate
http://www.progressivepunch.org/members.jsp?member=HI1&search=selectScore&chamber=Senate&zip=&x=46&y=14

2) He inspired the pants off everyone with his speech at the Democratic Convention. That in itself is no small potatoes, considering how in order to win the next election, it's gonna take someone who can do exactly that....inspire.
