Myself and several other DUers (TayTay, MH1, Global Village, KarenDC) are currently live-blogging from the Take Back America 2006 conference at the Washington DC Hilton for the DCP blog.
http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/The energy here is amazing and the place is crawling with progressives/liberals/Democrats of all stripes all coming together to promote and advance the progressive agenda.
About an hour ago, I sat in on a press conference with Robert Redford and Jerome Ringo of the Apollo Alliance.
http://www.apolloalliance.org/They spoke briefly on the topic of Al Gore's new film, "An Inconvenient Truth" and stressed the need for alternative fuel sources, environmental responsibility, and the need for our elected officials to speak out more forcefully on this crucial issue.
Said Redford, "I hope the media does not continue to shove this issue down the ladder, it's a big issue, people are concerned - it's not to be ignored or shunned." He added, "Those running for office in the future definitely need to speak out on this issue."
Redford and Ringo agreed that Gore's film "laid to rest the debate whether or not global warming was real."
Ringo from the Apollo Alliance said "We must consider alternatives to fossil fuel, we must get off the oil barrel." He called the Bush Administration's refusal to acknowledge the very real issue of global warming "a category five denial."
