2. I believe DPW is running the ports.
Whatever happened to the "US entity" that was going to step in?

The DPW sale was a done deal and I have always maintained that it would be allowed to stand.

I believe that the whole issue just went off and hid until the thing cooled down.

3. Thanks. I wondered the same, and guess we aren't supposed to know.
Just one more way the bushies do what they damn please and tell the people what they want to hear. But this is really bogus and I guess I'll write my senators one more time.

4. This was all a non-issue, anyway.
I don't know, maybe Lou Dobbs can rant about it for a few weeks and get us all upset again.

6. Because who gives a shit which international conglomerate does
this job? Who are the competitors? China, Singapore, some other state-owned company. The notion that Dubai's capitalist rulers were more likely to allow insane terrorists to ship stuff over was ludicrous and, frankly, an appeal to nativist hysteria and bigotry.

Meanwhile, the containers keep coming. How many incidents have we had?

This was all a big, stupid hubbub over nothing. I will say that at least it got Bush's ignorant racist base all pissed off at him.

8. Nothing was for sale except a contract to manage ports.
We weren't "selling our ports" to the Arabs.
