Poll question: Where do you find the most disgusting level of sanctimony?
I'm not talking about hypocrisy or irony. I'm not talking about ignorance or willfulness.

I'm talking about sanctimony. "I'm right and you're just ... well .... not."

4. Not in my hood!
I stopped by the local Mexican supermarket and found they'd installed a small cantina area with a big screen TV and beer on tap. It was PACKED with cheering World Cup fans watching it on one of the Mexican networks.

Not all of them were cheering in Spanish!

2. It seems like the most sanctimonious
now are the religious activists--the pharmacists, for example, who don't want to dispense the morning after pill, the anti-abortionists who take choice away from the people who most need it, the fundies who decry the beliefs of other religious leaders and their congregations. While they have always been sanctimonious, it seems that now they are operating at a fevered pitch.

5. Repukes, of course.
Not all of them, however. Some are having a painful transition to reality right now. Of course, I stand by with my salt shaker, whenever possible. It's a fine astringent for wounds.

On the other hand, I could regale you for hours about the sanctimony and complaisance of old-line local Dem people. As bad a case of anal-cranial interface syndrome as I have ever seen. In some cases, it looks like corruption. Smells like it too.

I have a friend like this that believes that a free-market capitalist state is the end all, be all of economic theories. We have just agreed to disagree. It just gets so frustrating trying to express your views only to be countered with "Let me tell you why you're wrong."

11. I think both sides have serious amounts of this...
The GOP owns hypocrisy and willful ignorance. But both liberals and conservatives can be sanctimonious bastards.
