1. Support Lt. Watada! First Army officer to refuse deployment to Iraq.

Thank you Lt. Ehren Watada for standing up for international, US and military law by refusing to deploy to Iraq in support of the ongoing illegal war and occupation.

His stance is in alignment with most americans.

3. morality...
is what gives Kevin his strength. He filed for CO status because he could not morally participate in this war any longer. He's been speaking about that from a prison cell for almost a year now.

I would like to think that people supported what he is doing as well. I have watched him fight -- in ways people have yet to know he has been fighting - to see that soldiers are taken care of, from his unit, to those he served with in Iraq, to those he is now incarcerated with at the Ft. Lewis RCF.

We have now been given a court date for his appeal to be filed. It is in July. We may have to ask for an extension -- because he is currently not represented by an attorney. His military attorney has been transferred and a new one has not yet been assigned to take over. We have gotten an outstanding civilian attorney to research Kevin's case and he has agreed to take it. It is a significant step. This attorney has 30 years experience and he is a CO himself. He knows that there is significant merit in Kevin's case for the issues or morality and freedom of choice represented by our constitution.

I am asking for people to spread the word about Kevin's case - and am requesting that people ask those they feel might be willing to make a donation to Kevin's legal fund. The attorney has agreed to take the case for a $2500 retainer fee - and $10,000 total to handle the appeal. This is an incredible amount, but with Kevin in prison and not receiving any pay for the past 11 months, and past attorney fees and living expenses -- it's difficult for us to raise.

This is a very important case - for Conscientious Objection and for Kevin. He has been through a lot - and he has stayed strong and fighting for soldiers' rights from the start.

Thank you for listening.
