Republican Strategists, Sex, MySpace, and Pride: A Heartwarming DC Tale

It’s getting so that a couple nice young girls can’t drive up to DC for the Pride parade without getting openly propositioned by Republican Strategists who give them their real names and business cards these days. Take, for example, the MySpace blog of one such lady, whose sordid tale is reprinted (as a warning to the well-endowed) below:

More of the story (i.e. “holy crap, this guy’s, like, important or something”), after the jump.
The initial proposition:

afterward, we got a snazzy hotel room at the mayflower downtown. on the way over there, this really hot business man in a pinstriped suit walked past me, said hello, and doubled back. he asked me my name and introduced himself (jack burkman, government relations strategies), asked where i went to school, etc, gave me his card, and asked me to call him. i later texted him and never could get rid of him again. he thought he talked to me on the phone several times, but he never did. i always made kat or kristin be me. he told kristin about how he really enjoyed my outfit (TITS GALORE) and that i was beautiful, etc. by the end of the night (5 am or so), he was offering to pay for our room and give us a thousand dollars if two of us would fuck him. oh, jack burkman. his card is my DC souvenir.

Oh, Jack Burkman. As you can see at right, curiosity got ahold of the young lady, and she commenced googling. And posting the results for us all to enjoy. Jack, if you’re going to pick up girls from out of town, you could pick a better venue than the Pride parade. That’s all we’re saying.

18. She SAID he was "this really hot business man" - HOT -
methinks she is bi - else she might have said, 'this business man'.

Also - she texted him - there is nothing in her post that indicates he did anything wrong. So long as she was of age...?

Just saying...

23. No, not at all. I still think trying to pick up women at the pride parade
strikes me as a tad clueless.

Nothing intrinsically wrong with it, for sure- although it does point up the rampant hypocrisy in the GOP. What was he going to say if they hit it off? "By the way, the people I work for think you all should be sent to prison for engaging in same-sex activities"?

32. Except offering 1000K for sex is technically soliciting prostitution
which is kinda illegal, for Dems at least.

Other than that, all perfectly above board and legal I suppose.

33. I musta missed that part. Ooops!
Yep. Technically illegal. The social Libertarian in me doesn't really think it should be, but they ought to play by the rules they're so busy making for everyone else. Just like I don't have a ton of sympathy when the DEA goes after Rush Limbaugh.

37. Oh - if you don't know!!!
These guys think these women want to give them the ultimate male fantasy: two girls, one guy. They think lesbians would be more ready to do the two-girl part of the equation, but they never consider that, hey, they might just NOT (NEVER) be interested in the one-guy part.

They DO think lesbians are as sexually deviant as they are and they honestly think this will make their chances better.

17. "Gay marriage? Worse than terrorists!"
This guy is a class piece of work. From MSNBC's Scarborough:

BURKMAN: But this issue and the moral fabric of the country is five times as important as the war on terror and the war in Iraq combined because as your book, “Rome Is Burning”—America will never be defeated in the field. Just like the Roman legions, we will never fall in battle. I mean, if Osama bin Laden thinks he can defeat the United States by knocking over buildings, he‘s crazy. But where we will fall and where we are falling as a civilization is from within. It‘s moral...

BURKMAN: Yes, but, and the but is, we don‘t—we, as Republicans and conservatives don‘t often support federal preemption, but we do when the—we strongly support federal action when the issue rises to this level. And there the issue rises, Joe, is the moral fabric of the country, and the states are not acting quickly enough...

So he will get a free pass.

Sorry.

Now if this was a Democrat, of course EVERY Republican with media access would bring it up in every single interview as an example of "failed morals" or whatever. That is why they win.

Sorry.

Call me back when a Democrat is on TV talking about this- otherwise, it may as well have not happened.

36. He's the type who acts way tougher than he is at all times, and that type
usually goes overboard trying to deny their gay tendencies by finding ever more stimulating ways to have sex, because regular male-female sex isn't working for them.

That's why I think that some of the guys into visiting dominatrixes are looking for some OTHER stimulation because they won't let themselves do what comes naturally to them - be with another man.

25. As a bonus, he's a real dumbass in history, too...
BURKMAN: America will never be defeated in the field. Just like the Roman legions, we will never fall in battle...

Pfft! Roman legions were defeated in battle all the time. Two of the most famous cases should sound familiar to us modern Americans. Both involved rich politicians impersonating military commanders.

In fact, looking at them with the proper historical eye--I'd say that only the flight suit and the "Mission Accomplished" banner are missing from these 2 accounts...

53 BCE, Battle of Carrhae: ignoring the advice of military veterans, politicians, and even local residents, Crassus marches into Parthis with an army of nearly 40,000 Romans (seven legions). Obviously he can't lose, since he outnumbers the Parthian army by 3 or 4 to one.

The Roman army is wiped out. Leading a small band of survivors in a final engagement, Crassus loses his head. Literally. He's decapitated and his head sent to the Parthian king as a souveneir.

How he got himself stuck in Parthia sure sounds familiar:

Crassus had a great desire to bring glory to his name...Crassus drew out the maps of the Roman Empire looking for a target to attack, and he felt that the most glorious target would be Parthia. Many members of the Roman Senate tried to dissuade him from this course of action, but Caesar and Pompey stood firmly behind him and the senate relented.

Some historians think Caesar and Pompey--both experienced military leaders--were using a Rope-A-Dope strategery on Crassus. They wanted to eliminate him from the triumvirate anyway, and knew he would get in over his head very quickly when he ran into the Parthians.

9 CE, Teutoburg Forest: in 5 CE, the Roman Empire declared "Mission Accomplished" against the uppity German insurgents north of the Rhine River.

With the region supposedly pacified, Caesar Augustus sent the politician Publius Quintilius Varus to reap the adulation (and taxes) from the grateful new subjects of the Roman Empire.

Varus' main qualification for the job seems to have been his marriage to the Emperor's favorite grand-niece.

As one historian notes: When he arrived in Germany, he miscalculated the situation. He regarded the country as already subjugated and believed he could impose civilian methods of control, such as were possible in the rich, well-organised provinces he had hitherto governed.

In September, 9 CE, Varus and 3 Roman legions (the 17th, 18th and 19th) ventured into the Teutoburg Forest. That amounted to 20,000 troops plus another 10,000 camp followers, mostly women and children.

They never came out. The 3 Legions were slaughtered. Varus committed suicide before the Germans could exercise their Freedom Of Religion and thank their gods by nailing him to a tree.
