Truly excellent music site: Pandora.com
Pandora.com

Their intro:

Ever since we started the Music Genome Project, (http://pandora.com/mgp.shtml) our friends would ask:

Can you help me discover more music that I'll like?

Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.

We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.

Type in a song and they build a music station for you. Its very nice.

2. I've been hanging around that site ever since they were interviewed
on Air America.

It's helped me find numerous new bands that I enjoy :)

6. Yet another reason why I could never live without this site.
This has to be one of the coolest things I've encountered concerning music since I discovered Spinner radio back in 2001. This is even better though, because you have no freaking clue what you are going to come up with. All expectations are completely null and void and there is so much you can discover here.

Thanks for posting this at just the right time for me to catch it. :yourock:

And my wife is grooving to it with me also. :)

7. Wow, that's pretty cool
My tastes are pretty obscure - Old Time and Irish. Typed in New Lost City Ramblers - no problem.

I love the Guide Us Button - I didn't like the next song, so they promised never to play it again. I really didn't mean to get the guy banned.

I'll have to try Silly Wizard later - another great group by the way.

8. That is one very cool site !
The beauty of it is that by naming tracks you like they auto suggest similar stuff of which you may never have been aware and as such had no previous means of searching. I keyed in Soldier's Joy and then Bonaparte's Retreat - as you do.

Only one problem . It's USA only and you need a US zipcode to register. They've got the usual fairy tale about not having permission to stream into other countries yet. I must just dream that I listen to USA radio staions in that exact way.

9. I don't normally advocate
cheating but this site is awesome.

You will love it. You can even influence it's choice by voting selections up & down. It seems to make a difference what direction they go in to pick things for you.

10. Hi there !
Inevitable we'd look for the same music I guess. The thought of bluffing a US zipcode had already occured me. In the meanwhile I've emailed them suggesting they get their finger out
and stream into the UK before they lose anymore business to similar sites that already do so.

Hope you're well. :)

15. I don't think you want to know about the legalese
behind international copyright permissioning. Trust me. I work with that for photos (I am a photo editor), and can imagine it's much more tangled with music, as more hands are in the pie.

13. Has this been moved into Politics
in an effort to stop anyone finding it or is there something about music which is political ?
