Be that as it may, though, in this case there seems to be a lot of people who agree with the law as it is, and are not simply using the blind "illegality" argument but saying that what is illegal here should be illegal.
I am, of course, giving everyone who uses that argument the benefit of the doubt that they are simply in error and not stupid, closet reactionaries, or intellectually lazy.
I don't agree with much of present immigration policies, or much of what is planned, and I tend to prefer completely open borders as an ideal. But, I'm not sure where in Progressive, Liberal, or any other Leftist doctrine it is said that this is a goal. While many people may be a bit jingoistic, even on the Left, the concept of border security is worthy of discussion.
But, yeah, your rant is well justified in a larger sense. The Law is intended to bring justice, and when it fails at justice, it must be disobeyed until it is changed. If we accept unjust law, we are not worthy having law at all.
