How do we feel about the "DCCC"? I got a phone solicitation
today and pledged a modest amount but didn't want to give anything over the phone as I'm not familiar with this group. Good group? I'm waiting for the literature but evidently they focus on congressional seats for democrats all over the country.

1. I got called by the Senate re-election committee..........
I ranted about the immigration bill and the e-voting machines. I told them when they stopped being clueless I would give them some money.

2. Give directly to the candidates you support.

The DCCC uses funds raised as a benchmark of electability.

So if you are a candidate that is willing to sell out to the corporate lobby, you hook up with the DLC, who acts as your pimp and whores yourself out to the highest corporate bidder. You wrack up the corporate donations, and presto....the DCCC says....oh you are viable....and gives them the money you donated. So in this case your money went to a DLC candidate who will vote for the next "Energy Bill" tax giveaway to big oil, or to the next medicare drug bill giveaway to big pharam....or to the credit card industry written bankrupsy bill.

You are better off donating the money directly to the candidates who share your values, or donate to a PAC that is committed to donating to candidates that support your values.

Money to the DCCC will go to corporatist candidates. The head of the DCCC is a big DLC toady.

4. I will not give to either the DSCC or the DCCC.
The basic reason is that they are not neutral in primaries, picking particular candidates to support over other ones. Since I also am often not neutral in primaries, and since my choices are often contrary to their choices, I would be, in effect, contributing money to organizations that are actively campaigning against candidates that I'm supporting. That just doesn't make sense to me as an effective use of my political donation dollars.

I would be much more inclined to support them if they only supported candidates who had already won the party nomination. As it is, at this time I will only give donations to individual candidates, and I will tell them that if they solicit funds from me.

The latest business with the DSCC threatening to actually support a third party candidate against a Democratic party nominee if Lamont wins the CT primary is an even bigger reason to not give to these organizations.

If you are the sort of person who has no preferences in primaris, and trusts these organizations to have the wisdom to know who the best person is in any given race, then you may want to support these organizations. If you do have preferences in primaries, I don't see any reason to give money to possibly work for the defeat of somebody you may be supporting.

5. It's legitimate - a partner of the DNC
I prefer to give directly to candidates though.

They contribute to "targeted" races and to the states where those races are. They also provide information, training, and assistance to Democratic Congressional candidates.

7. The only to win
is to organize everyone and every state. Howard Dean is the only one doing that.
