If I had inherited Bush's war on Jan 20, 2005, I would've immediately

called in Kofi Annan and NATO and said "Tell me EVERYTHING you need to come into Iraq and take over the mission of overseeing their transition to democratic governance as peacefully as possible."

NATO and UN: No way are we coming in the way Bush left it, we need as much stabilization as you can get, and then, YES, we will come in and work with you to turn over power to Iraq's new functioning government.

I then would have brought in Iraqi corporations and tell them that they would be taking over for all the US corporations whose contracts I am cancelling.

I then would call a summit of all the religious leaders in Iraq and around that region and asked them to come to agreements on the best way to allow their religions' peaceful tenets to make themselves heard more loudly than the violent perverters of their religions.

You? Be mindful that Iraq was on the verge of holding the elections needed to form that new government.

2. First, we cut and run, the only moral option in an immoral war, second,
we turn Bush and Co. over to international courts for prosecution, as they see fit.
Declare amnesty for all GI's who obeyed Bush's illegal orders.

3. Pull our people out immediately. Make the rich pay the price.
Let the chips fall where they may and tell the UN "How much cash do you need to get in there and help quell that civil war? The US is about to levey an 80% reconstruction tax on all corporate profits and any personal income over $5M."

6. I'm surprised no one is for letting the UN takeover to transition Iraq to
their own government under the conditions that existed in Jan 2005.

4. The American corporations that profited from this war
via their no-bid, non-performance contracts, will not leave Iraq until the citizens have clean available drinking water & electricity. These companies will use company profits, not US citizen tax dollars, to put this in place & they will hire Iraqi citizens to do the work.

9. I think they would be OK...properly supervised
But if the Iraqis really don't want them, I'm sure someone somewhere could use some free labor.

7. Yep - after calling in the UN, I would have called all Iraqi corporations
to tell them that they would be taking over for the US corporations whose contracts I am cancelling. I should add that to my OP.
