Here's how to stop the "Stay the course" meme in its tracks.
Send out a talking point to all Democrats that EVERY time the media talking heads or Rethugs say "Stay the course" ...interupt and ask them what that means? Make them explain how and why we're doing the right thing. This would open up an opportunity to deflect the argument from us defending "Cut and run" to them having to defend all the killings and failures of the course we are on. Ask who the hell would want to "stay the course" we've been on? This would give us a chance to point out all their blunders.

In other words...be on the offense and NOT on the defensive! We are fools to let Rove et al get away with that tactic!

Point out "the course" has been blunder after blunder and ask them if that is what they want to continue. STOP letting them get away with their disgusting and misleading slogans and MAKE them explain what exactly they mean. Attack! Attack! Attack! They can't say anything positive about what they've done or what they're doing.

"Stay the course" = commit blunder after blunder...kill and be killed...lie and deceive...BANKRUPT AMERICA...line their own pockets...lose more allies...create more terrorists. etc. etc. etc.

MAKE "STAY THE COURSE" A DIRTY WORD...JUST LIKE THEY DID WITH THE TERM "LIBERAL" WE CAN DO IT! wE CAN MAKE THEY TOO SCARED TO EVER UTTER THAT PHRASE AGAIN! TO SAY IT SHOULD GIVE THE DEMS A CHANCE TO OPEN UP A PANDORA'S BOX OF CRITICISM!

3. What are you doing to help bush stay the course?
Question to ask the "conservative" base.

What do bush supporter do when offered an enlistment contract? The cut and run.

Stay the course to more dead americans for no apparent reason. Pure "conservative" logic.

5. That really is brilliant
as it (hopefully, depending on the talking head in charge) changes the conversation to what amounts to an attempt to smear the Democrat into a conversation about how Iraq -- i.e. "this course" -- has been one inept and dangerous failure after another resulting in over 2500 dead soldiers, nearly 20,000 wounded and a majority of the American Public tired of it and wanting our brave soldiers to finally come home.

Let's see a Repug fight against that!

(Now, what are the chances of a high level Dem actually following these suggested talking points?)

6. No, that won't help at all, you want to know how to shut neocons down.....
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 10:51 AM by Minnesota Libra
....on the "stay the course" issue. Offer to go with them to the local Army/Marine recruiter's office. If they come back with anything that resembles, "I've chosen to serve in other ways" just come back with, "In other words stay the course is fine as long as it's someone else's ass on the line. I'm sure Bush is very proud of you because that was his approach to serving as well."

It shuts them up fast.

edited to ad: Hopefully there will people other people around as you're driving each neocon's bravery, or lack of, into the ground.

8. Yes, simple does work
but I suspect there are Americans out there who would want something of more substance in this debate.

So, after the simple "shut-down" (if the Repug is stupid enough to keep the subject alive), the Dem should say something along the lines of "If my good friend ______ is demanding that our soldiers stay the course in Iraq, then I look forward to _______ introducing legislation tomorrow, with the support of his/her Party, that will give our soldiers the body armor and appropriately outfitted transport they need. The course, as it is now, is a suicide mission with most of the 2500 troops dead and thousands more wounded due almost entirely to lack of adequate armor and ill-equipped transport and _______'s legislation could help protect our brave men and women in Iraq for as long as ___________ insists on keeping them there. With ________'s legislation, we can finally tell our soldiers and their families here at home that help is finally on the way."

Not as simple as yours, but certainly puts the spotlight on the cockroaches, doesn't it?

It's all bullshit anyway, it won't be long before they completely run out of money to pay for it.

12. "Stay the course!" Geo. Bush & Geo. Armstrong Custer
I always say...What is the course? What is the mission? What needs to be done before we can say... Job is done, time to come home? What is that thing, Democrats are cutting and running from?

No Freeper, I have asked, has been able to answer it.

13. And that's how to do it.
Al-Rubaie addressed this, actually, in saying there were unofficial guidelines for when troop replacement in an area is appropriate, and for withdrawal of coalition forces.

He said no more.

I personally regard it as weaselly when somebody simply says, "I have a plan." Yippee. You want me to believe you, at least outline it.

14. Here is how I do it
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 05:24 PM by lastknowngood
We stayed the course in VietNam for 15 years, 58,000 American lives and 1 trillion dollars. We have only been at this for 3 years we have 2500 dead over 20,000 wounded, 65% of them amputees, and 450 billion dollars.

Just how many years, how many American lives and how many trillions of borrowed dollars are you willing to spend to keep from admitting that Bush lied us into this war?
