Are Democrats Cut and Runners?
No. It was the GOP who wanted to cut and run from Osama bin Laden by starting an illegitimate war in Iraq. And even now, it is the GOP who refuses to redeploy Guard troops back home to defend our borders and full-time troops to Afghanistan to go back to finding Osama. The GOP is still cutting and running from Osama. It would be nice if some of the Democratic politicians and pundits would bring this issue up as an answer to this whole cut and run from Iraq sham.

3. Fuck, yes. Anyone want to give me a SENSIBLE reason why "cut and run"
is a bad idea?

And no, I don't want to hear "we have to finsh the job," whatever the hell "the job" is. Remember, I asked for a SENSIBLE reason.

5. I haven't heard a sensible definition of "the job" yet, frankly....
They're all either vague generalities (create democracy, export liberty), logistical impossibilities (defeat the insurgency, disarm all the militias), mistakes (WMDs, nullify the Iraqi threat), or bald faced ass covering by cowardly politicians (support the troops, america is always right, it's unpatriotic to question).

My first requirement for any "mission" is that it be achievable, have an end point, and that implies some measurable signal that objectives have been achieved. Other than tactical objectives (e.g. kill everything that moves in Fallujah) and strategic objectives of questionable utility or longevity (e.g. depose Saddam Hussein, create a democratic puppet gov't), I haven't heard ANYONE articulate any real mission in Iraq, and certainly not one that would have a definable end point.

6. Well-said. You're right, it's all vague BS to soothe the masses.

2. Yeah, we want to cut the crap and run the government.
Don't forget how the chickenhawks "cut and run" from VietNam.

4. "Cut the crap and run the government?" I LOVE it! The Democrats should
ALL use that for an answer for this question, every time it's brought up.

It's s truly great turn of phrase. It needs to become a Democratic meme.

7. it's a fine meme, but I don't like the notion...
...that we need to deflect attention from the genuine need to cut and run from Iraq. I don't think we should try to avoid the original intent at all. Cut and run? Damn right!

8. Well, yeah. That quote comes AFTER we've established that "cut and run"
was EXACTLY the right thing to do in Iraq.

9. I agree with you in spirit.
But I don't know how far the party in Washington is willing to go. I would merely offer up for now that whenever a Republican is talking about cutting and running from Iraq, it would be a good idea to bring up Osama. On a related note, have you read the Strategic Redeployment Plan by the CAP?
