New GOP Meme: "We trash a hero of yours & it will be good for you if we
Edited on Sat Jun-24-06 06:45 PM by applegrove
do". Alternatively: "We trash a hero of yours or else it will be bad for you & the things you hold most dear".

Can anyone thing of other examples?

Last week and then again today.. Kos is trashed and the post goes into a discussion about how great it will be for DU to take its place.

Also.. now Jon Stewart is teaching skepticism which will be bad for people as it will encourage people not to vote.

So the two patterns of the new Meme is:

1. WE TRASH A HERO OF THE DEMS AND Narrative about how it will be good for you personally

2. WE TRASH A HERO OF THE DEMS OR ELSE it will be bad for the Dems to left this person untrashed come election time as people will not vote.

Remember:

1. WE TRASH YOUR HERO

AND

it will be good for your personally

2. WE TRASH YOUR HERO

OR ELSE

if left alone your hero will cause negative effects to the things that are most important to you.

LOOK FOR WE TRASH YOUR HERO + NARRATIVE about the dire consequences of your hero being left alone

1. Personally, I think Brooks' trashing of DailyKos
and other lefty blogs will do nothing but increase traffic to their sites; then readers can see for themselves that they are not filled with "rabid lambs". Also, they might learn a thing or two that the right wing wants hidden. Might even pick up a new wave of regular readers.

5. I think it will have the same effect with the Jon Stewart slapdown.
I don't think the blogs or Americans are stupid enough to fall for the narrative on their own lives improving.. if they just think with the people who slam their heroes.

It just reeks of someone challenged to understand adult human beings. One it is bad info. Two it is appealing to selfishness and people on the DU or elsewhere are not selfish. That is a rarity. Most want good government and good democracy.

2. the right will sorely disappointed to learn -- we don't have heroes.
if it weren't jon stewart -- there would be some one else -- in another day it was george carli -- and in another mark twain.

our ''heroes'' are human and fallible.

punch away guys -- cause you're punchin pillows.

the ideas are now out there -- and cannot be recalled -- and there in lies the eternal genius of the left.

now -- if we could learn to mount a good offense.

4. NY Times columnist Brooks attacks 'Kingpin' of Daily Kos
NY Times columnist Brooks attacks 'Kingpin' of Daily Kos

"In Sunday's paper, conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks attacks the founder of Daily Kos for acting like a "Kingpin" who "commands his followers" to "unleash their venom on those who stand in the way," RAW STORY has found.

"The Keyboard Kingpin, aka Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, sits at his computer, fires up his Web site, Daily Kos, and commands his followers, who come across like squadrons of rabid lambs, to unleash their venom on those who stand in the way," writes Brooks. "And in this way the Kingpin has made himself a mighty force in his own mind, and every knee shall bow.""

These people have no sense of irony let alone decency. Brooks deserves to be in a special position in Hell.

6. Nice to see someone post a story of a Kos attack..that doesn't mention
the narrative about how DUers will benefit from Kos being diminished.

Just the facts.
