seriously am wondering whether I will vote for her in November.

19. Votes (edited to correct listing votes for the wrong bill).
Edited on Tue Jun-27-06 06:32 PM by lindisfarne
Which of the Democratic YEAs are up for re-election this year? If the Democrats pulled the plug on the Repug political game playing and arranged for Senators in tough election contests to vote YES, while still making sure the bill didn't pass, I can forgive those YEAs. (But Feinstein does not fall in this category).

I used the "Class" listings at http://senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm to determine if someone is up for re-election in 2006.

38. I'd posted the wrong vote, then removed it, but the other person must
have posted after I removed it (probably had opened the page before I removed it). Then, the list was finally put on the Senate web site, and I edited my message to include the correct vote.

22. What is up with Mark Dayton?
He is retiring, so he had no political reason to vote in favor of this amendment. Dayton also voted against Levin's non-binding resolution to begin pulling troops out of Iraq. Dayton has really turned out to be a major disappointment and it's fortunate that he will be out of the Senate soon.

25. was this what they intended all along?
Go into the Senate and make a lot of noise, act like they were serious, but then let it fail? I guess I question everything they do these days. They wanted to score some political points, but didn't really want to change the Constitution. If the "nay" voting Republicans are from safe seats, I'll be convinced of it.

33. If they succeed at their wedge issues, they'll have nothing.
Maybe if they can think of a few more, they'll get rid of some old ones slowly, but it's my hunch that they'll never ban flag burning, gay marraige, and abortion.

32. Can't they find something that is IMPORTANT to worry about?
I agree, don't get me wrong, that having this go down is good, but Jeez-o-pete, can't we get onto something of substance here? People are dying in Darfur, we are fighting a war nobody can explain and no one has an exit strategy for, but man, we got time to worry about people burning flags. When is the last time anyone of us here saw the media cover a flag burning? Only if you are an oldster like me do you really remember the Vietnam era. Are they so worried that anti-war demonstrations are really about to ramp up and this is their best defense? Don't let people speak out?
It is disheartening the way this Congress continues to muck about with these useless issues when there are real problems that need to be addressed.

The worst thing is, every time they hold one of these dumbass votes, the number of brain-dead losers who vote for shredding the Constitution goes up!

Granted so did every other "no" vote, but he refused to tow the party line on this one and in so doing he saved us from the first ammendment to the Bill of Rights ever.
