Dean On The Minimum Wage And Congressional Salaries
Washington, DC - Today, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on the Republican-controlled Congress voting to raise their salaries while refusing to increase the minimum wage after nearly a decade:
"Once again Republicans are putting what's good for them ahead of what's good for America. The move by Congressional Republicans to raise their own salaries, while blocking Democrats' efforts to increase the minimum wage for millions of hard working Americans, again demonstrates their real agenda of misplaced priorities. The Republican-controlled Congress should be ashamed of itself. It is simply indecent that millions of hard working Americans can't earn a decent wage and struggle to make ends meet as they try to provide for themselves and their families. Democrats will continue to stand up for America's working families and fight for an increase in the minimum wage before increasing their own salaries."
