America to the GOP: "Hell, yeah, we want to cut and run!"
A recent ABC/Washington Post poll shows that a majority of Americans - 58% - do not believe the Iraq War was worth fighting. The percentage of Americans believing that the US should set a deadline for withdrawing from Iraq has grown since December - from 39 to 47% according to the same ABC/Washington Post survey.

What does this mean? It means Americans are growing wary enough of the war that they want to see the military roll back its involvement. In fact, they feel bamboozled. Many are angry, and not we few who participate in this forum. Many average, independent American voters are angry enough that they don't care how the GOP labels the Democrat's attempt to put together an exit strategy. They have their own exit strategy - for the GOP to leave Congress.

The GOP's play on "cut and run" will alienate American voters who believe that cutting and running is necessary at this time. As more American casualties collect in the coming months, many more will believe that reducing our involvement is a good strategy. Having words put into their mouths, accomplished through puerile marketing slogans such as "cut and run," will only worsen their ire. Average Americans simply will not accept the GOP's equation of military reduction as cowardice. They already believe we have failed in Iraq. Time to pull out, lick our wounds, and attempt to piece together the remaining pieces of American democracy.

1. There's no point in "staying and bleeding"
It's not fucking working.

And, all the fucking Republican "Christians" need to figure out how they are going to fucking explain to their God that they want to follow the edicts of their Lord Savior Jesus Christ and kill people at the same fucking time.

Fucking murderous hypocrites. Fucking just fuck 'em. Fuck 'em.

5. Not to pick nits
But I really do believe the American public does see a difference in a politically charged congressional plan to reduce troop numbers and one devised by those actually on the ground fighting in Iraq.

6. That's not really the point of this post, though.

I think a majority the American people want to pull out, regardless of the strategy, and will detest any attempt to color their viewpoint as yellow.

The nuance of whether the plan derives from the military or from Congress is an emotionally moot point for them, I think. Perhaps they can see a difference, but I believe many simply would like to see us divorce ourselves from a failed mission.

7. Why do you think "the nuance is
moot?"

It's a pretty significant difference.

9. Because a week ago when the GOP claimed that the Democrats...
were divided, etc. and were trying to use that as a political strategy, it didn't resonate with the American people, per continuing strong support for Democrats come fall. It appears that most of the American people do not see a difference about how we exit, but do see a difference in whether or not we do get out.

Besides, this wasn't the point of the original post, anyway.

8. Cut and run now, or cut and run later. Take your pick.
Maybe we should set a firm limit of, say, 10,000 Americans dead before we all agree that it's time to cut and run. If we could get the rethugs to agree to a deal like that, it would probably save 50,000 American lives.

10. Iraq and BushCo not worth another life
whether it be an Iraqi citizen or a US soldier. Time to get out, Now. Otherwise there will be another wall with too many names on it. All for nothing.

Will the last one out of the Green Zone please shut off the lights.

"How many deaths
will it take 'till we know
that too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind."
