Minnesota tv station fact-checks Paul Wellstone on Iraq (he was right)
The late Sen. Paul Wellstone was first elected in 1990 and one of the first things he did after taking office was to oppose the first Bush War in Iraq (BWI I). The Minnesota senator voted against the second Bush War in Iraq (BWI II)as well, making him one of only 11 U.S. Senators to vote against both Bush Wars in Iraq.

This election season, a Minneapolis tv station fact-checked Wellstone on his reasons for opposing the second Bush War in Iraq and found that Wellstone was right.

I wonder how many of the Bush-supporting warmongers--Republican and Democrat-- who sneered at Wellstone for his vote against Junior's war would like to trade their votes for his now?

1. Name the Democrats that "Sneered" at Paul Wellstone...
For his vote on the IWR?

Please provide citations and links...

BTW: Perhaps you could find a statement from Tom Harkin, Paul Wellstones best friend in the Senate and one who voted for the IWR...I'm sure we will find some sneering from him on the record!!!

4. Could it be Holy Joe Lieberman?
Lieberman sponsored IWR in the senate and lobbied hard for it's passage.

5. And where was it that he "sneered" at Paul Wellstone...
Didn't see any reference to that...simply opposing Wellstone is not sneering, or deriding or whatever term you choose.

10. I don't know that anyone sneered at Wellstone, but I do know that
he was told that he would lose the election if he voted against it (at that point the race was too close to call). Wellstone chose to stay true to his beliefs and was the only senator up for reelection to vote against the IWR. After he did, he surged in the polls and was ahead of Coleman and outside the margin of error the day he was killed.

11. I was a big fan of Wellstone...
I just object to the characterization of the OP that Democrats sneered at him for his vote...that is false...

And as the OP's snide and childish response to me indicates, he had no basis for that accusation!!!

6. Lieberman is a good start
There were plenty of sneering comments made by those voting for the war who challenged the patriotism and resolve of those opposing it. I don't have any links handy, and I'm not about to waste time confirming my memory of them.

Democrats have just as much Iraqi blood on their hands as Republicans, no matter how you cut it.

7. Why do you refuse to provide any evidence...
To back up this assertion. If the sneering condemnation among Democrats against Wellstone was so widespread, certainly you could find at least one link to point to!!!

What grade are you in?

Insults are the refuge of someone with no evidence to back up their statements!!!

Not surprising!

Are you sure you are from Minnesota? I grew up there and Minnesotans are generally very polite.

Iraq 'war' was falsely pushed down our throats with the help of most of our Dem leaders.

I revere Paul Wellstone.

How honorable to have as part of his noble life that -

his first vote in the Senate was against Iraq War I
his last vote in the Senate was against Iraq War II
