I think we should be thankful for this: Were it not for the hubris of the previously unfettered republican majority, we'd have a much harder time being informed on how they operate. usually, corrupt politicians are carefully wicked, using shell corporations and political feints and misdirections to disguise their misdeeds. But once the republicans had absolute power, they were not only absolutely corrupted, they became lazy, sloppy and disinterested in hiding the tools of their illicit power.
This is the benefit of hubris, for us. It permits to see EXACTLY what they did, and how they did it. Since they never figured to be out of power, they became cavalier about accountability. Why is this good? because we can investigate and prevent their excesses in the future, now that we are in power (if we're smart).
Do you realize how screwed we would be, even more so than now, if they had instead played it close to the vest, been clever and cagey and thought ahead?
The saving grace in all this is that they relied on shortsighted planning or no planning, got obsessively greedy and blatant, and lost complete touch with both the constituents and reality. They stuck with the tired propagandist Rove, and hammered in with the aggressive attack, instead of shoring up their power and garnering a lock on ruling america.
In other words, we are damn lucky they were this incompetent, clueless and blatant. It will make it that much harder for the NEXT powermad group to attempt another takeover.
