Media Consolidation and the Conservative bias that results; can a Democratic Congress address these matters? Surely we need a restoration of our 'fourth estate' and independence in news gathering at the least. What can Congress do when faced with a President in the pocket of the Mega-Media Corporations?
Freedom of Speech (many cannot get media access; the wealthy get more), government secrecy, the virtual destruction of the apparatus of News gathering and presentation (cuts in News departments, investigative journalists, editorial news staff everywhere you turn). All that in addition to the Corporate control/filter over the News (and other) product that is delivered to the people, leaves all of us with a shortage of true and proper information.
Lest we want to face yet another election cycle with Democrats facing a deficit of good media coverage and barely able to respond to Republican smear projects, we'd better seek to correct as much as we can; whatever that is... and "we", "the people" have to demand this, even if its not a topic that happens to confront our Democratic Party leaders (they have so many things that need attention, we have to help them focus).
