Inconvenient TRUTH: Al Gore needs to run again
Thanks to MikeLewis for posting the link to Google, I just watched an Inconvenient Truth. I'm pretty speechless at the moment, bear with me.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1853143128000829382&q=inconvenient+truth+duration%3Along

I am not going to say anything that most people don't already know, but addressing global warming is a MAJOR, MAJOR issue for 2008. Probably far bigger than anyone realizes. Climate change IS a moral issue, it's going to kill us off if we don't get a grip on ourselves. I felt twinges of pain and pride while watching the movie: pride because I now reside in a country that is a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, and pain because my homeland has not signed the agreement. Feel pride because we recycle everything, have and use an amazing mass transit system, drive very fuel efficient cars, have a house built tight like a bunker that is extremely energy saving, yet feel pain because I know how challenging these things are to accomplish in the US, the country is taking baby steps. Hooray America, but we need to shift into warp speed, and quickly.

I think maybe I was mad at Gore because of 2000, I cried when he conceded, tears of betrayal and anger. But I see now he's had bigger fish to fry. After watching Inconvenient Truth, I fully support Al Gore running for President in 2008.

And thank GOD he invented those internets so I could watch this movie on Google. Bravo!!

17. I agree, there is none better..
or more qualified..

I would also like to advocate for Hillary as VP..

with this team, we get between them, a team with 32 yrs of WH experience.

Precisely what we need to address the failure in Iraq and economic slowdown created by the present Adm.

42. Now yer talkin' AK!
Saw AL on Oprah today. It worked out pretty well for him with Oprah playing
the Devil's Advocate. She had some bozo (didn't get his name) pre video taped
playing the Chicken Little card. This way viewers were able to get an instant
response from Al refuting the bozo's assertions that "An Inconvenient Truth"
is a "scary" movie designed to create fear of something that is a natural occurrence.

It would be good thing if Al keeps that segment in all his future presentations
as a preemptive response to the naysayers. Al pointed to his research over the
last 10 yrs as impeccably done and verified unanimously by peer review scientists.

Whereas, it was pretty obvious, the video taped bozo was an "opinionated" hired gun
paid by the biggest polluters to distort the Truth.

AL was fabulous as always...and NOW he has Oprah on it. She Gets It!

7. I regret I have only one recommendation to give...
Error: You've already recommended that thread.

I understand your feelings of betrayal and anger in 2000 -- and he was too, too far out ahead of the party and the people in terms of his understanding just how conniving and underhanded and filthy the GOPers stealing the election really were. He could not save that election for us alone -- he could lead, and he did, but he needed a cavalry -- and he did not get one. I've said it before, "If ever I meet Al Gore I will apologize for not being there to fight for OUR win in 2000."

28. We can only speculate how different the world might be
at present, had Al Gore been commander in chief.

Not a day goes by that I don't curse SCOTUS for installing the squatter at 1600 Penna Ave. Shame on them.

It should be mandatory viewing.

And for this alone, Gore should be our next president. I think he MUST run.

14. Well said 48percenter,
I believe global warming to be the biggest issue, we face today and that's not to downgrade the importance of so many other vital issues. It's just if we lose Earth, nothing else pretty much matters.

Kicked and recommended

This is our test to see if we can trust our own strengths, and listen to the bad news. And if we don't, that news will become more than news. It will become a bad reality.

I would quit my job to go work for Al Gore's campaign. If he'd have me. Failing that, I'd just send as much money as I could.

GORE/CLARK '08 has a nice ring to it, no?

30. This is not a political issue
And once it is made one, the MORALITY of it is gone. And I would hope those watching it on GOOGLE (hopefully with permission of Mr. Gore and the production company) would still buy it as the money is going to a good cause.

31. Go tell that to Al Gore.

I oppose conscription in all walks of life. Al Gore has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of running again, and I see no reason to distrust him.

It's not just a matter of getting someone drunk and inaugurating them before they wake up, or chaining them to their desk and keeping them on bread and water until they legislate.

33. Some just want their "anti hillary"
And they will even go so far as using this movie to get it. They say Al Gore "gets it" about the planet, and they are correct... the point of the movie however, is that he who is the messenger of the warning given by scientists wants US to get it and act before it is too late. I am really discouraged to see not many seem to be getting it, but only using it as a political vehicle.

36. I would definately like to see him run.
I think he may be warming up to it, also. The last time I saw him interviewed, he wasn't adamant about not running, so I think if enough people called for it, he'd answer. His biggest problem will be from the DLC who won't want to run "damaged goods" because they're too gutless to fight and are afraid of being called losers. What the hell, Nixon lost a close one in 1960, lost the race for Governor of California in 1962, swore he'd never run for anything again, and won the whole thing in 1968. And if that paranoid, drunken, power-mad bastard could do it, someone like Gore sure as hell can. He just has to get the right campaign manager, and I think we could see him elected...and by a wide enough margin so they can't steal it again.

41. It was a Buchco Judge that ended his use of the courts, but he could have
gone to Congress and supported/lead the exclusion of Florida's electoral votes. I am not saying that he should have, I am saying that he could have. And I give Al a whole hell of lot more credit for fighting for OUR election win than I give John Kerry.
