Poll question: Forget what you want and say what you think will really happen with Iraq ....
I think there's no disagreement at all about what we want with respect to Iraq. We want that it never happened and the whole thing is like JR's dream on Dallas. But that's not the case.

I also think there's no disagreement that, given where we are, we want out of Iraq tomorrow, if not later today.

But that's not gonna happen, either.

So, forget for a moment what you *want* and say what you think, based on what's going on in Realityville.

1. I chose 2 years
because this administration is too stupid to admit its wrong, but too political not to pull out before the next Presidential election.

3. Wasn't it Pam who had the dream on Dallas?
She woke up and the whole previous year didn't happen. Bobby was in the shower...

Or did they do it again later with J.R.?

That was a great show when it was on.

a dream....

If true, "real" life could not approach the horror of this nightmare....

7. I agree.
We have truly been through a nightmare, and I will only be convinced it has ended when they drag the SOB out of the White House in hand cuffs. Destination: Federal Prison.

NO PARDONS - The Troops will never get a second chance at life, neither should George Bush.

5. I gotta jump in here in answer to those who say 'never'.......
I don't see it that way. I believe we *will* be out.

The neocons and the oil barons are the one's who want us there permanently. They've lost their puppet's effectiveness and the country, as a whole, was simply never with them.

The reason we went to Iraq in the first place was a witch's brew of Father/Son conflict, neoconism, and oil. The public reason was a national taste for blood after 9/11.

The blood lust of most of the nation has long ago passed. The good guys are back in charge and the truth will (mostly) come out and NO one's going to like it. We'll be out. The only uncertainty, in my mind, is when.

10. I think it will be 12-18months - BEFORE next election. That's the only way the
BFEE can assure that either one of their Republican tools gets voted in or one of their Dem tools gets the nomination and gets in.

They will cover themselves both ways. The only good that will come of it is that US involvement will end sooner than if Bush2 was still running the show.

Now Poppy and House of Saud are in charge.

13. Sometime In 2009, Sir
The present administration will not withdraw, nor will it be compelled to withdraw.

In the short term, something on the order of fifty thousand more troops will be fed into the place, the administration being under the cheerful illusuion this will suffice to "break" the various militias. It is a number woefully inadequate to that task, and worse, the very idea is based on a serious misunderstanding of the problem. The fact is that the militias are the government, and not just in a de facto sense. The political leaders who have real power in the government we erected in Iraq are those who command or have the backing of signifigant private armed forces: nobody without guns at his beck and call is taken seriously by anyone but the U.S. government. The various Iraq police and army detatchments that exist are essentially militia bodies "baptized" into "national" forces. To campaign against the militias is to campaign against our own puppet government....

14. I said "will take another year"
I really don't see how we could stay there very much longer than up to a year (possibly 2 ??)

1) There is no "national will" for this "war"
2) The country is not happy to keep throwing "good money after bad" to support it
3) The oil barons nor the freepers are signing their kids up for the military to support it with personnel
4) The Iraqi's don't want us there
5) The American public is hyper-cynical now (after all of the lies, after lies)...not gonna believe (m)any more lies
6) The American voting public has proven (by their votes) that they/we want a "new direction" - out of Iraq!
7) There are 'high hopes' for the upcoming new Congressional mix...

That's my take (as well as my 'hope' :-)).

Peace,
M_Y_H
