Bush signs executive order for pay raises ( for Cheney, et al)

Disgusting. The Dems wanted to make pay raises contingent upon passing the increase in the minimum wage. But Bush goes and does it with another executive order! GRRRRRRRRRRR......

2. So generous of him, he didn't give himself a raise.
Probably worried his approval ratings would go down further.

What an a-hole.

11. Bush makes only $400k? That is PEANUTS compared to what
15,000 CEO's make. The average CEO salary of the 1000 largest
corporations in US is aprox $10 Million. President of US should
be paid atleast the average salary of a CEO of a large corporation.

Ofcourse I am talking about a competent president who does a lot
of good for the country. Chimpy deserves much less.

6. Did any of you read the article?
It said that it is just enforcing the legislation already passed by Congress earlier in the year. Also, it seems as though it's just a standard of living increase which mostly affects federal civil servants and the military. Seems pretty benign to me unless I'm missing something here.

10. Of course I read the article.
The point is that this was "forced" by a Republican Congress and Bush could have vetoed raises for Cheney and the Congress (just as he didn't approve an increase for himself).

"The size of the pay raises was based on a formula in federal law that takes into account cost-of-living changes."

Yet the minimum wage remains stagnant.

12. Why does legislation passed by congress need "enforcing" by Executive Order?
What is your explanation of this phenomena. How often does Legislation passed by congress need "enforcing" bu "Executive Order and how often did Clinton do that?
