28. What's ridiculous is thinking letting criminals get away with their crimes...
...somehow helps ANYONE except the criminals.

5. Oh man!!!
My mom and grandma are going to hit the roof when they hear this, if they haven't already. You see, my grandfather, Durward C.Young had worked with him when Ford was a state senator here in Michigan. My grandfather worked to get the Handicap Act passed and it did. My family has the letters that went between them. One of the letters from Gerald Ford gave my granddad the news that the Act had passed.

Well, I all I got to say is that my granddad and Gerald Ford are back together.

6. :(

I just saw that. Interrupted the Tonight Show with a special report. How sad, he was a good President in a tough time in history.

9. Yeah I think my mom knew him personally
when she was a child. I do remember her saying that she had sat on his lap when he was over at the house working with my granddad, either him or I am thinking of DeVos. I just shot of an e-mail to my stepdad giving him the news, I do know that my mom and grandma are going to be shocked.

I just wish I could remember the HR number of the Act that Ford and my granddad had passed so that I could Google it.

My granddad was a deaf activist.

10. I wish I could have met him. I've met Clinton and Carter, and he was the
one Republican president I would've wanted to meet. :(

12. Of course, I think I would have liked to meet him as well
by the way that my mom and grandma talks, he apparently was a very kind and decent man.

I think it's time that me and my mom got into the black, office organizer in my grandma's house and start going through all of that stuff. I have seen the letters myself and it's frustrating to me right now that I don't have them in my hands at this moment because the Handicap Act was a big part of history.

Damn, why are all the good people dying?

15. Wow that is cool...
I just talked to my mom on the phone, me and my stepdad were talking about this and his talking woke my mother up, lol. He's drunk as usual. But my mom wasn't mad at me. So I broke the news to her and she said "Well, he was how old? 93, 94? It was his time to go." She was sad about it. Says that he was a very decent man, she says that he was a very caring man. We didn't talk much since she wanted to go back to bed.

24. My brother met him.
My brother was in high school when Ford was President. He was at Interlochen music camp one summer, when Ford came to a concert there.

My brother was in the audience, because he had already performed. He was listening to someone's piano concerto. Ford, or course, came unannounced. He came in with a Secret Service group of about six people, and sat two seats away from my brother. (Secret Service men sat between them).

My brother was surprised by Ford's size. I guess he thought Ford would be a small man. He remarked on how large Ford's hands were. After all, the guy had played football.

14. One of the last decent Republicans
who believed in "live and let live" and keeping governments off the bedrooms of individual citizens, also doctors office.

Then came Reagan and the religious wrong, and the Grand Old Party turned into American Taliban.

21. Wasn't he on the Warren Commission, and pushed the single bullet theory?
no offense, but that act alone should show him for the slime the GOP stands for.

22. despite the JFK movie
the bullet wasnt as 'magical' or prestine as the movie made out. connelly was sitting lower down and slightly to the right of kennedy. Also he was turned slightly after hearing the first shot. from that angle the bullet didnt have to make any mid air directional changes.

Ford requested a state funeral and a burial in the courtyard of his presidential museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

18. Oh ok...
I wasn't sure. It's going to be hectic here in my town for the next couple of weeks. I wish I could attend the funeral but I doubt that they will allow normal citizens to attend. I do know the local news is probably going to be talking about his death 24/7.

19. I would assume he'll lie in state in Washington
and then he'll be moved to Grand Rapids.

Such sad news for the holidays. Condolences to his family, friends and supporters.
