Does Sheehan's arrest violate the conditions of her conviction in NY?
"Cindy Sheehan, who emerged as one of the most vocal opponents of the Iraq war after her son was killed, was convicted Monday of trespassing for trying to deliver an anti-Iraq war petition to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations

Sheehan and three other women were acquitted of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing government administration. They will not face punishment as long as they stay out of trouble for the next six months, and were ordered to pay $95 in court surcharges.

They had faced up to a year in jail if convicted of all counts."

3. This one....Cindy Sheehan arrested outside Bush's ranch
CRAWFORD, Texas: Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and four other protesters were arrested for blocking a road near U.S. President George W. Bush's ranch, snagging Vice President Dick Cheney's motorcade in the backup, authorities said.

Sheehan and the others lay or sat in the road for about 20 minutes Thursday and did not heed requests to move, Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. R.T. King said.

"They weren't going unless they were arrested," King told The Associated Press. He said Cheney's motorcade was among the vehicles delayed by the demonstration.

----cut----

A judge sentenced them to conditional discharge. Sheehan's attorney, Robert Gottlieb, said Thursday that meant they will not face any punishment as long as they lead a "law-abiding life" for the next year.

4. Good question. Maybe that's her intent? She has to know
this could cause a lot of trouble (and perhaps get a lot of publicity).

13. believe me she does not want to go to jail!!!!!!!!!
I think that might just apply to New York.Today would just be a misdemeanor which usually means a fine

7. They referred to it as a "conditional discharge" so I didn't know if probation was appropriate.

10. Conditions of her discharge
I believe it would be appropriate to say probation, but thats kid of a local usage thing. Though I'll admitI haven't practiced criminal law in 20 years.

8. If it does it creates a prob for unck
Put Cindy Sheehan in jail for protesting a war that roughly 70% of Americans disapprove of?
Ouch. She may just serve as a catalyst for a burst of civil disobedience. Imagine ABC,NBC, CBS, 60 minutes, NPR all doing segments periodically on the political prisoner who lost the love of her life in a failed, immoral, unnecessary war.
Unless of course the govt. denies access by the media...for national security reasons, of course.
I wish people like Hunter Thompson and Abbie Hoffman were still around, we could sure use their brilliance.
