An update from Barbara Boxer

Our Friends of Barbara Boxer community is truly amazing.


Three weeks ago, I wrote to you to announce our "10 for 10" program -- an effort to find 10,000 donors to my 2010 re-election campaign before May 31st. Our community certainly delivered!

As I write to you today, we've now reached a total of 11,521 donors and counting -- an incredible total to reach this early on. I am truly blessed to be able to count on friends as dedicated and supportive as our entire Friends of Barbara Boxer community.

Surpassing our 10,000 donor goal this quickly sends our right-wing opponents a strong message that we're already putting ourselves in a strong position for victory in 2010.

Over the coming weeks, I'm going to continue fighting for the issues that matter to you and all Americans -- ending the war in Iraq, stopping global warming, defending a woman's right to choose, increasing stem cell research, making quality health care accessible to all, and many more. I hope that you'll stand with me every step of the way, because we certainly have a lot of work to do.

Thanks again for all of your help and support. You and the entire BarbaraBoxer.com online community give me so much strength. And that's what keeps me fighting day after day, week after week, in the United States Senate.

She alone stood as the sole Senator as sponsor of the Congressional Black Caucus in early 2005, when it was time to certify bush's "win" and they wanted to challenge on the record. They had to have at least ONE Senator in order to bring it up, and there she was (all by herself - every Democrat should have stood up for that one).

Remember the campaign to send her roses for Valentine's Day to say thank you, and how she wound up surrounded by dozens and dozens of roses? Her record's a good one, and she just voted "no" on the latest war funding bill. She'll need the help. And it's a smart move to start fundraising early. I've heard a whiff of rumor that the Gropenator might try to challenge for her seat once he's finished his second term as governor here. He seems to be pretty popular in California, overall - because on SOME issues, he's almost decent.
