The Carville Matalins show respect for Libby, but highly disrespect Democrats.
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 07:13 PM by madfloridian
I find this so outrageoous, and it really angers me.

Sorry, Kids, Scooter's Going To Jail

This statement says they respect him so much. After all he did to the Joe Wilson and wife, Valerie. After all he did in covering up the lies.

"Though my husband James Carville, a Democratic Strategist and Clinton supporter, shares neither political nor philosophical views with Scooter, he has a deep respect for his intellect, his integrity, and joins me in the sentiments expressed here."

Poor Scooter, they would have us believe.

Remember when Mary Matalin said this about the Democrats and Howard Dean? No respect at all...in fact, contempt.

Matalin in 2005 said Dems would dump Dean by New Year 2006

BLITZER: If anything, Howard Dean has been very consistent over the past few years, including when he was running for president.

MATALIN: Howard Dean is in some form of denial. Let me make a New Year's prediction for you, Wolf. The Democrats are going to have to dump him as a party chairman. He can't do the two things a party chairman is required to do, which is to raise money or get the message out.

When you look at a country that has gone from tyranny to sovereignty, to a transitional government, to a constitution, and next week is going to have the first self-determined elected government in the region, that is progress. He can be in denial, but who doesn't have a plan, doesn't have a policy, is the Democratic Party. And he's certainly not helping the Democratic Party, who are back-pedaling from their chairman faster than a (INAUDIBLE).

Her hubby is working overtime to be sure the Democrats dump Dean.

Carville is carrying someone's water.

From McJoan at Daily Kos:

"Obviously James Carville is not a stupid man. He knows he didn't invent the 50-state strategy and that this line that they didn't pick up an additional 20 seats because of Dean is ridiculous. So what's the explanation? Why is he spouting these absurdities? Covering for Emanuel because he either ignored or got into the third tier of races so late? Frankly, Emanuel never imagined that we could have had 50 seat pickup this year, and he wanted to focus on the 20 races he started with, on his grand plan.

Is Carville is carrying Emanuel's water on this one? I don't know for sure, but I do know that the rest of the Dem Party establishment has credited Howard Dean and the 50-state strategy for the great success of this cycle."

And even more absurd, from the same post:

Ford decides he won't let Carville replace Dean with him, yet.

Ford himself said he will likely run for office again, although Ford did turn down an offer by James Carville to run to replace Democratic Chairman Howard Dean."

In 2005 and 2006 and it continues in 2007.

But they love Little Scooter Libby.

It is spectacular that he is polling third and not even running.

It seems the Democrats are lousy with talent.

1. Infested with lice.
2. Extremely contemptible; nasty: a lousy trick.
3. Very painful or unpleasant: a lousy headache.
4. Inferior or worthless: a lousy play.
5. Slang. Abundantly supplied: lousy with money.

* But also a tongue-in-check reference to those that just think everything and everyone sucks with very few exceptions.

41. Another Hillbot and friend of Carville, Bob Zimmerman, attacked ...
Another Hillbot and friend of Carville, Bob Zimmerman, (Democratic Strategist ? and paid CNN pundit) attacked Howard Dean on CNN yesterday (Wolfie's pre debate show) stating that Howard Dean should be FIRED for saying that Rudy's personal life will cause him problems in the election.

Man, that guy Zimmerman totally creeps me out. His 1/2 closed, cold, hooded eyes remind me of a Cobra getting ready to strike. And trust CNN to pay a certified Hillary supporter as a "Democratic Strategist" to spout Hillary campaign slogans and attack other Democrats on CNN.

The fact that these creepy people are all in the Hillary camp is enough to scare anyone.

49. Glad I missed that. Guess now the party doesn't want criticism of Republicans.

Boy, they sure want him fired, don't they? Glad I missed that. Hillary Rosen was on Tucker when Dean said that...though he did not give details. She said his phone was ringing off the hook. Very critical.

CNN used that as the "hook" when Dean was on. That was not the purpose of the interview, but he did vaguely agree with Blitzer.

So now we know Carville wanted him "fired"...Doug Schoen, a Clinton advisor, said in his book he should be replaced with Harold Ford...and Begala called Dean an a**hole from Vermont.

And now Zimmerman wants Dean fired? Are they that afraid to crticize Republicans now?

Doug Schoen says to fire him and replace with Harold Ford.

40. That's right folks! Valerie and Joe have children too
What did Bush/Cheney/Libby et.al do to Valerie and Joe's kids?

Why should Libby's kids trump V&J's kids? Is everyone to have more concern for Libby's kids than for V&J's kids. Let's see now. Libby knowingly committed a crime while V&J did not. If the family of the criminal doesn't get to suffer something for the action of one of their own then what good does it do to bother with a justice system? Those committing crimes need to know that their actions will hurt the ones they love (if it's possible for them to love) and the one's that love them. It should be a deterrent to crime.

Deaniacs come from all walks of life, we are main street America. I have never seen such a diverse group of people as I have at many Dean events. I once had the privilege of seeing Howard address a room of 75-100 people at East Los Angeles Community College (He spoke in both English and Spanish). SEIU workers both white and Hispanic, African-Americans, students, office workers, housewives. Howard is rapidly approaching the point where in some sense we have rebuilt the old FDR coalition.

Fucking MSM.

14. Why I get so upset about the sabotage by Carville...quoting The Next Hurrah.
There has been so much work done to bring state parties out of financial holes and bankruptcy since Dean took over in 2005. For Carville to insult Dean again like he did last week and be supportive of Libby just blows my mind.

This was posted earlier, but time for a reminder.

I never realized the bad shape some parties were in until I read The Next Hurrah.

.."Now to my knowledge Mr. Carville is not a delegate from Virginia (where he lives and votes), and he does not represent any constitutant group. He is, simply put, not part of the DNC and is irrelevant as to whom they should select as their National Chair. Nor has he participated in any deliberations of the committees or commissions of the DNC over the past two years where the program of the DNC was authorized.

..."Two years ago I spent a good deal of time on local blogs organizing meetings with our DNC delegates when Dean and his program were the core of the vote the DNC was about to take in the wake of the 2004 Election Disaster. This was not to be simply a mid-winter social gathering in DC -- it was serious business. We eventually got all our votes for Dean and his program. I was in a good position to argue for the program because in the 1980's while chairing Alan Cranston's campaign here, I had discovered how pathetic many of our state parties actually were. Many were literally bankrupt, the office supplies and machines (typewriters) had been taken for unpaid debt, and padlocks were on the door. The State Committees that had the franchise were held in one or another lawyer's file cabinet, (In Georgia it had been Bert Lance's for about 20 years), and the reason for this condition was frankly racism. The Southern States would not allow the release of the franchise to a newly elected Central Committee or Board, because it would be Black. They could do this because the parties were in bankruptcy, and whatever lawyer had the letterhead in his files was also the court appointed trustee.

When Dean took over the DNC -- this was the condition of about twelve of our State Parties. He actually had to find lawyers to go into court and get the parties out of this kind of "Trusteeship" before he could even begin to reorganize. In fact, one of the reasons some of the Field Organizers Dean appointed are on the staff of the DNC rather than state parties is because it avoids dealing with old trustees and old court judgments.

The really sad thing is that Democrats all around the country don't know about all this -- about how the party structure was sabotaged essentially over the matter of race over a long stretch of years. By not actually dealing with the matter -- and it should have been argued out and dealt with in at least the 1970's -- it has festered, and now we have this assumption by James Carville that he is the great white master, who can dictate the structure of the DNC, including which African American should head it as opposed to Dean, or whom ever else the properly constituted DNC should elect.

And Carville is not doing this on his own, trust me. It is hurting all of us as a party.

More at the Next Hurrah.

16. Letters from Ordinary People Said Throw Him In Jail!
What struck me the most about the Libby Letters were not those from the rich, powerful, and connected. They were the hand-written ones, or the ones obviously done up in MS Word (or whatever) from ordinary people. They all said "throw him in jail!" The "little people" aren't as stupid as the Repugs seem to think they are. Or maybe they're recognizing that Scooter really blew it big-time. Or maybe they've just had enough of the Bush Junta and want accountability from SOMEONE. Whatever the reason, those hand-written letters to Judge Walton brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure that the Wilsons were similarly touched.

18. Of course Carville couldn't offer it. It was a warning shot.
DEAN: I have to say I get a laugh out of that one. Here we have — let's leave the federal races aside, because the DCCC and the DSCC did do a wonderful job. But the truth is we got six additional governors. We got nine additional legislative chambers. New Hampshire now has a Democratic house and senate for the first time in a century.

We did great. And I think the time really has come now, now that we're in power, at least in the Congress, to pull together, to be unified. We've got a lot to do in the next two years. We've got to elect a Democratic president, and so...

WALLACE: Do you have any intention of stepping down?

DEAN: No. I talked to Harold last night, and he has no — he doesn't want the job. This is some kind of inside the Beltway silliness.

There was little Dean could do without looking petty.

That is why I say it was a hit job, and they knew what they were doing. It was out in left field. They thought it would be believed. And many do believe them. People love Carville's bald head and rudeness, and they think Harold Ford is sexy.

So they listen. And there were no counter voices except from the blogs.

Richard Carlson, Tucker's daddy, wrote one of those "think of the kids" letters. Must have been some pretty interesting conversations between Carville, Novak and Carlson before, during and after Crossfire. Hell between the three of them (who knows what role Begala plays in all this) you've got very strong connections to Libby and this case.

The one letter writer that scares me the most is Cesar Conda. He used to work for Cheney and is incohoots with Heritage, Cato, and the rest. You'll notice the Navigator letterhead that people like him and Ron Christie used lists Conda as a named partner.

37. Mrs. Clinton Will Make A Great President!
:sarcasm:, in case you thought I was serious.

This stuff is incredible - classic Clinton playbook. This is why the Democrats lost Congress in '94 - the Clintons try to destroy any potential competition in their own party, while stroking the opposition to get deals going - deals for really helpful stuff, like 'free' trade with China.

Elect Mrs. Clinton, and we'll lose Congress again. But Romney would kick her ass before it even got to that.

50. There's the rub - they'll work to undermine other Dems but wouldn't BOTHER taking on BushInc
in any substantive way on ANY of the most serious issues of the last 7 years.

39. The Clinton/Carville/Rahm Emanuel era of the Democratic Party needs to end....
It worked during the '90s, when the booming middle class overlooked all those little unpleasantries such as NAFTA and the encroaching corporate influence on the Party. But in the more sober 2000s, we see the disastrous results.

43. It really angers me too
When will Democrats refuse to allow this kind of crap in their party? Carville lost me years ago when he married that witch. I knew then (and I was right) that he would just serve as a pipeline of Democratic party info from that moment on.

Then when he helped lose the 2004 election, I was even angrier.

Now he screws us once again by publicly supporting Scooter.

Carville needs to just become a Republican.

Water finds its own level. A man is judged by his friends. This is pro-active friendship, beyond the call of duty. The question is, what does he think is in it for him?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, however, dandy-looking it might have appeared at one time. He knows he's burnt his boats with the Dems - thanks to the Internet and blogosphere.

54. Jon Stewart had the good sense to read the other
really egregious letters that were really fascinating ... but not DU. Nope, DU immediately jumps on the letter cosigned by a has-been Democrat and grinds it into the ground. Like this comes as some sort of surprise? Yawn.

Of more interest is the PNAC-filled letter bag from the architects of the war, a virtual cornucopia of the morally bankrupt supporting the morally bankrupt.

60. and who died and appointed Carville King of the Democratic Party?
Who the hell is HE to "offer" running for the job of DNC Chairmanship to Ford? Thinks he's a fucking kingmaker. Happily, the real Democratic Party -- the grassroots and workers in each state -- know better.

61. We're great, everyone else is trash . . . huh?
It's amazing the sentimentality and outpouring of understanding that can be given for right-wing thugs by other right-wing thugs!

Mary Matalin is a strange lady -- comparable in many ways, IMO, to Cheney.

Carville is either game-playing in the Democratic party -- or he's an idiot.

And it doesn't look like there's a great deal of trust for Emmanuel.

This is the "left" working for the right.

Before too many people get the idea that Dean is worth following, presume they are going to have to try to damage him.

the corporate system.

Expect anything else from these Pieces of excrement, I KNOW you'r'e not that naive.
