2. You are right. Holy Joe was leading many, if not most, states at this time in 2003
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 02:16 PM by draft_mario_cuomo

What is interesting is Obama vs. Edwards. Let's take away their home states. Edwards leads in two other states, including Iowa, and also leads in Florida according to one poll. Obama leads only in SC, and in some SC polls he trails substantially. This is interesting in light of the large lead Obama has over Edwards in the national polls.

7. Well, let's just go to the general election
And skip all this primary nonsense.

I do not support her and whether she is the nominee by the time the primary gets here to Pennsylvania or not I'll still vote for Kucinich.

But I gotta say, after watching those morons at the Republican debate last night I'd hold my nose and vote for Hillary in the general election because those guys are just plain scary.

I may not be a Hillary fan and I may ramble about the futility of voting for the lesser evil, but in the end I would do whatever I could to avoid the nutjobs on the right.

6. wow - that's pink
Well, for all the bitching and moaning about Hillary (and I too will not vote for any of those in the primary that voted yes on the IWR), she is proving to be a jaw-dropping formidable candidate. If she is an inevitability as some of the chronic whiners here at DU constantly remind us, so be it. She has shown she has the right stuff to lead.

But it ain't over til the fat lady sings.

I'm still hoping Al Gore jumps in. :)

9. To be fair, a lot of these polls are old and I'm guessing much of it is name recognition.
That and typically the leading candidate in all national polls leads state polling as well. I'm guessing that changes if Hillary does not do well in Iowa or New Hampshire.

Here's a word of advice from a Dean supporter back in 2004. He was leading in a lot of states, and even the national poll the night before the Iowa caucus. Once he finished third behind Kerry and Edwards, his ratings across the board dropped quickly. So just because Clinton is dominating polls today does not mean she'll be dominating them at the end of the year.

20. Unfortunately...
But, not because it's Hillary. I just think it's sexist to force pink on women.

I've had to fight tooth and nail not to have pink-covered EVERYTHING just because I'm having a little girl. It's sickening that corporations FORCE us to purchase pink for girls and that god-awful baby blue for boys - but what I have noticed is that boys get more choices that girls in clothes and bedding - they have deep, rich colors to choose from, while girls get pink... or some sort of washed-out looking stuff.

Truth be told, I HATE PINK!!! And, if my little girl has my coloring, she'll look just as atrocious in it as I do. I've been buying mostly green, tangerine and orange for my wee one on the way. Heck, my little boy didn't look good in baby blue. We're not a "pastel" family.

I've just been overly innundated with pink, so that was why I thought that when I first saw this image, too.

Woman = Pink

This woman = RED, baby! :hi: (And not Republican red - we're talking HOT MAMA RED)

Baby will be here bright and early Friday morning. She's too big and having to come via C-Section. This week has been slower than molasses! LOL!

34. here's the way I look at it
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 12:57 PM by AtomicKitten
As an example, Obama stepped into the hype about him (which was also "jaw-dropping" formidable) and fleshed it out; it is clear he has the right stuff to be the hype, and then some. And you bet Hillary has a "machine" behind her vis a vis Bill, and FTR "corporate dollars" can't vote in polling so I reject that analogy, but my point is she's proving to be fleshing out her own hype by giving strong debate performances and running a virtually flawless campaign.

The difference between you and people like you and me is that I don't resent what anybody on "my side" has to bring to the table. It's the "my side" part that isn't clear in the minds of some people here. My remedy? Watch the GOP debates and Faux News. That dose of reality will or should bitch-slap you into understanding where the real rubber-meets-the-road lines are drawn.

We're in the midst of an election that I as a Democrat refuse to lose. I've had enough. I'm too old for this shit. As I've said a gazillion times before, with the balance of the Supreme Court always on my mind, I care more that a Democrat takes the White House in 2008 than which particular Democrat. But that's me.

13. It will take a miracle
for someone to topple Hillary. She has the old time Democratic establishment, Bill, a media that has already declared her the winner, and tons of money behind her. The only one that has an outside chance is Obama and I don't like his chances although I still have my fingers crossed. Comparing 2007 to 2003 is dangerous. We are way past where we were in 2003. Joe L. may have led in the polls but he had no organization and a spit in a pot compared to what Hillary has banked. She could have this thing wrapped by this October and many of us will be sitting here with our mouths wide open. Sorry I am sounding like an alarmist but this really concerns me because I don't think she has a prayer of winning the general election.

30. After scanning some polling sites...
I'd say the map is about accurate. However, I'd put Iowa in play, I can't find any consistent leader there. Also, the only states Edwards, Obama, and Richardson lead are their home states. Hil leads in SC. But many states I also list as "too close to call" such as Texas and Georgia.

The main problem is most of the polls are a little dated. I expect this to change as we near January.

However, I expect Hil to win. The only hope a candidate not named Hil has is that all other candidates not named Hil drops out early.

31. If you love polls, here's another: Rudy 52, Hillary 45
Those are the numbers from the latest national poll for USA Today.

So I think it might be a smarter idea to get us a winning ticket.

Right now I am thinking about a GORE-OBAMA ticket for 2008.

Neither of them shares responsibility for the current mess in Iraq.
