Jim Dean at Dem Fest...change from "culture of incumbency" to "culture of activism."
I found it interesting the way the article started out:

Sharp criticism of the Bush administration was a prevailing theme as DemocracyFest 2007 kicked off here yesterday, but the Democratic leadership took plenty of hits, as well.

'DemocracyFest' celebrates activist spirit

Edwards' comments sounded great:

Casually dressed in jeans and a white shirt, Edwards, too, cautioned against expecting too much from any President.

"The greatest moments in American history "¦ did not start in Washington D.C., and certainly not in the Oval Office," he said, noting that the civil rights and anti-war movements of the 1960s were citizen-driven.

"If you think that the way to bring about change is just to vote in the next election and that your presidential candidate is going to go out and change the world, you're living in a fantasy world," Edwards said. "It will never happen."

And Jim Dean really nailed it.

Yesterday morning, Dean's brother, Jim Dean, chairman of Democracy for America, set the tone for the weekend by challenging a crowd of about 100 to get involved in politics on a personal, grassroots level.

"The ground game is where it's at," said Dean. "The days of televising your way to victory are over."

And it's not enough simply to try to win elections; the real test comes in the governing, Dean said.

"We're not outsiders anymore," he said. "We have this opportunity to change this from a culture of incumbency in D.C. to a culture of activism."

Gravel spoke tonight I think, and Howard Dean speaks tomorrow night.

There have been updates all day and tonight in the comments sections here:
