Hillary's Macaca Moment
"I can certainly run for the Senate seat in Punjab and win easily"

She's the one who made clear that she had ties to India that made her quite popular there.

Is she now trying to hide her ties to the Indian community? Is she ashamed? Doesn't that make her the racist?

'Such "oppo" pieces are usually sent by campaigns with the disclaimer of "off the record" or "not for attribution," so Mr. Obama would not be linked to it. At least some copies of this document contained no such disclaimer.'

I find it very interesting to see Obama supporters giving up the charade of the Obama campaign practicing a "different kind of politics" so quickly...

2. HRC stands up for ethnics. She represents NEW YORK
She wasn't talking about ties to India but rather her strong record of support for Indian-Americans. HRC represents perhaps the most diverse state in the nation. She stands up for Indian-Americans just like she does for Italian-Americans, Jewish-Americans, Greek-Americans, etc.

8. She has the same position on Israel-Palestine that Obama does
Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 05:10 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
The Clintons at least have a record of seeking peace in Israel-Palestine. The Obama track record on the matter consists of blaming the Palestinians for all their problems, a right-wing neocon frame... ;)

Would HRC say she could get elected in Israel, Italy, Greece, etc.? She could make the same point given her record.

==Oh, then she must not be talking about something else when she refers to Punjab.==

In order to believe that you must believe that HRC hates America and wants to send all our jobs overseas. You also have to ignore that state she represents and her strong record on Indian-Americans. What is Obama's record on Indian-Americans?

19. She has the same position on outsourcing that the "mystery candidate" Obama does
The point was twofold: 1) Take advantage of racism. This is classic, Obama clearly is well-versed in the "old politics" and the politics of division, er, "unity". By implying his opponent is in the pocket of an ethnic group he hopes to capitalize on racist feelings toward that group. 2) To paint HRC as an advocate of outsourcing (while hoping that his cult of personality will prevent people from looking at his actual platform and record)

Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 06:18 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
You know, as Obama himself would be outraged if a candidate made an appeal to anti-black racism. Obama should be the last candidate to appeal to racism.

You are a Kerry supporter. Kerry, who is not a political neophyte, has never used racism to further his political ambitions during his long career of public service. Obama lasted barely 2 years in primetime before resorting to Willie Horton-style politics... :eyes:

Listen. Edwards isn't going to win. If you're choosing Hillary over Obama, that's fine. But know beyond a shadow of a doubt that when you bash Obama you're guaranteeing a Hillary win.

63. When did HRC do those things?
It is ironic to see a Kerry supporter write-off Edwards this early. Kerry was tied with Sharpton in the national polls in November of 2003 and was in the single digits before Iowa. How did that turn out? The lesson from Kerry's run is that it isn't over until it's over!

68. We aren't voting for "who's going to win" in the primaries.
That's a disgusting, specious reason to vote for anyone.

We are voting for OUR CHOICE to lead the nation. Your choice. MY choice. If other people see what I see, my candidate will win the nomination. If not, it's a damn good slate and I'll cope with who I get.

And I won't go around slurring and slamming to distort the choice available. "Macaca moment" is a sick, deliberate attempt to make Hillary racist by linking her to what SOMEONE ELSE SAID. It's sleazy. And the more you repeat it, the sleazier it gets. If your candidate can't win without this, eewwwww.

13. Yeah you might want to pay attention...
Hillary's speech was made two years ago, to an Indian-American audience. She made an attempt at a joke that was in poor taste, apologized, and was forgiven by the group to whim it was uttered...

And oh, btw, has the overwhelming political support of Indian-Americans..

Obama's memo was revealed today...

Two entirely different things...course juding by your quote of the discredited Madrassa issue, you pay very little attention to the news...

HRC is being crucified for *gasp*, come closer kids, having the support of, of, of, brown ethnics in NY! Yes, HRC is an advocate of globalization. She is being criticized for that too. However, it is telling that in all the posts on the matter today we have not seen a single post from Obama backers on his position on outsourcing. Any guesses as to why this is the case? ;)

Amateur time. Truly pathetic political work.

I have been inside of political campaigns and watched as communication staffers foolishly tried to make a story out of a non-story about an opponent. The press turns on the candidate in a heartbeat and begins to ridicule and poke fun at everything coming from the campaign.

Pushing that story was a major blunder. Someone needs to be shown the door.

62. I have no idea what you're talking about.
If an Obama supporter posted this, IMO it's not doing him any favors. Hit pieces tend to turn off people who aren't already supporters.

I mean, who turns such ineptitude loose, except our George?
