You say you wanna 'change the party' or you wanna 'take the party back' .........

There have been quite a few threads of late on this kind of topic.

It seems to me we've been down this road before. And the drum major leading our parade was none other than Howard Dean.

Put up candidates for every office. Allow nothing to be decided without a contest.

Sure, there's things we can do to get this one or that one elected to the US House or Senate. But it is JUST as important - particularly if you take a long term view of things - to get your kind of person elected to local and state offices. Your little town would surely be better off with a lefty dog or cat lover for town dogcatcher than some right winger. You **know** it matters with respect to the school boards or town or county council.

There's no reason for each of **US** not to run for office.

Its lots of fun to talk about national politics. And they surely do matter. But we need to be everywhere. And you can affect serious matters on the local level and watch the results up close and personal.

I know this is obvious. I know its been said before .... many times. But with all the threads about 'changing the party', maybe this needs to be again considered.

Edit to add this important point I failed to make adequately:

It is about having our kind of people running for office. Work for someone else if you feel you don't want to run yourself. That's AT least as a important.
