when she engaged Coulter on Tweety's show....appealing for Coulter to stop personal attacks.

Everyone knows Coulter continues her filth because she gets the reaction she's looking for.

Assholes like her get off, knowing they can get under people's skin.

If people ignored her and didn't react, she would not be as controversial and she would lose a great deal of her selling power.

When you deal with a bully, you either need to hit back hard and give them a taste of their own medicine (which Elizabeth and other are above doing), or you need to ignore them.

Anything else only encourages the abuse to continue.

And I suspect Coulter will launch a new round of attacks against the Edwards, since she learned first hand she has the power to upset them.

Look at Coulter's response, she went on the defensive immediately, she does this every time she's called on her vitriol. I think one of the best shots of the real Coulter was when she got caught in a firefight on Hannity and Colmes...she had no place to run, except off camera, ("Sean, Sean...where are you Sean?")...it was beautiful.

People get away w/this garbage because they are given a free reign, whether it be on Hannity and Colmes, O'Reilly or some other program. There needs to be a, "have you no shame Senator, have you no shame", moment every time one of these jugheads says something that is merely said to incite. She lies like a dog, same thing w/the SBVFT. They were NEVER called on their lies, some people just figure that the public MUST know it's a lie, but when these things are not countered.

Take this garbage about Edwards being a "trial lawyer"..."he sues doctors for supposed malpractice"...I think that is a good idea. Bad doctors should be sued. If found not guilty in court, fine, but most malpractice suits are not "frivolous", someone was injured or killed by a physician that made some bad judgment calls. If some RW'er had the wrong leg amputated, I can pretty well be sure they will want their day in court, and it won't be to ask for a BigMac and fries.

Elizabeth did the right thing, she called Coulter out. Even the most rabid RWnut will realize that every accusation needs to be proven, but only if they are reminded, otherwise, they view silence as capitulation to the "truth" of the statement, no matter how ludicrous it might be. The whole "Breck Girl" thing is something as well...Edwards has nice hair, so what, there is a brain under that hair...bush has horrid hair, and there is no brain under it. The hair is not the issue, but a brain is, bring it back to the real issue.

Jesus Christ could come down and hug Edwards and say he's doing a fine job...RWnuts would say it was satan, no one is going to change them, in the near run...but we should not be looking to reform the RW, at least not now...we should be working on the swing voters. The next candidate for us D's will not be perfect, but we sure can beat the hell out of anything the R's pick from the vegetable bin they always go to. We just need to keep it all on the issues...:D

The problem is Elizabeth is so kind and classy (I just love her to death), she's can't affect Coulter by telling her that she respectfully asks Coulter to stop the personal attacks. I just know Coulter eats that up.

That was my only point.

I obviously would like to ring (sp) their necks.....but they love it when people attack them.

That's why I think people should ignore them....as difficult as I know that is.

the First Amendment defense fell flat, and prosecution is going forward. Having your son stomp on flag is not FA stuff, it is incendiary...at least that's how the court is looking at it. Might be different if SHE stomped on the flag, but this one may slow Phelps' clan down a tad.

Most people just want to beat the crap out of them, especially since he started going to military funerals w/his troupe. Kind of ashame people didn't feel like that too often when he protested gays, but even a late response is better than none.

I recall seeing a film about the gay kid killed in WY, and how the community came together when the march in honor of the kid built into a mammoth undertaking. Straight, gay, made no difference, a human was killed by two crazed imbeciles...I'm straight, and i would have been in that parade w/o a second thought...everyone in the city should have marched. Then, when the others came out as angels, stood before Phelps silently and turned their backs...it was a sight to behold. I felt like we had just gotten our humanity back after a long national illness.

If people just lined up and laughed at the Phelps clan...he would self destruct. It would be another sight to behold.

With Elizabeth...she's had an epiphany, she has stared down death, and I don't think Coulter could possibly scare her. Liz definitely has class, something Coulter could never have, she lives for hate and destruction...Liz lives for John and the kids, as well as herself...she is a wonderful person, and I wish her a speedy recovery.

What made me overflow with joy, on the other hand, was watching Coulter stumble over her words and splutter out halfassed attempts at deflection and diversion, all of which Chris Matthews promptly brushed aside as he held Coulter on topic and asked her to respond to Elizabeth Edwards' actual questions.

And then the audience's loud applause at the end of Elizabeth Edwards' scolding was awesome!

Coulter's just an opportunistic pig. And she got smacked down for all to see, once again. I always forget all about her until she thrusts herself in the spotlight once more to blurt out some juvenile rant.

She's such an idiot.
