Six-year wait to wait more for an end to Enron drama

Six years should have been long enough.
Jim and Mary Lessor now must wait even longer to recover the pittance that remains of their Enron-ravaged retirement account.
The Lessors are among the 20,000 former Enron employees receiving settlements from a civil lawsuit filed in 2001 on behalf of Enron employees whose retirement accounts were gutted by the company's collapse.
A total of $265 million has been collected, and the first payments were parceled out to eligible recipients almost a year ago.
The Lessors' check arrived several months late because Enron mailed it to the wrong address, Jim Lessor said.
"We waited a long time to see any money," he said.
When it finally came, the check seemed smaller than it should have been. And it may have been.
