Edwards wins Moveon poll on environment. Kucinich second, Clinton third, Obama fourth...
John Edwards has the best approach to fighting climate change of any 2008 Democratic presidential contender, according to an online straw poll of members of the liberal activist group MoveOn.org.

Edwards, a former senator and the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee, won more than 33 percent of the 95,284 votes cast in the online survey by MoveOn members.

Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich barely edged out Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois for second place. Kucinich won 15.73 percent of the vote, while Clinton won 15.71 percent and Obama won 15.03 percent.

The survey, which asked MoveOn members which candidate had the best position on dealing with climate change, was taken after a Saturday online forum in which the Democratic candidates staked out their positions.

3. I didn't have a chance to listen to all of them,
but of Clinton, Gravel, and Richardson, I liked Richardson best.

5. Edwards always does better when the focus is on issues. HRC's defeat of Obama may be a harbinger
Edited on Wed Jul-11-07 02:22 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
When people look at polls at progressive websites they forget what each candidate starts with before he or she opens his/her mouth. HRC starts in the single digits, Obama in the 20's. The fact that she moved up to beat him is a real sign of success. It, and the debates suggest this as well, suggests that she gains points when people actually hear her speak, instead of thinking only of the right-wing/left-wing caricatures of her. Obama may be a victim of three years of media hype that brought him to where he is today. The hype has been so great, the expectations so high that when he speaks on the issues he inevitably disappoints some people who were expecting him to walk on water based on the hype.
