How many DUers agree with the mandatory Hydrocarbon law/Iraq oil rip off
pushed through the House and Senate last April in the war supplemental bill? It demands that Iraq sign production agreements with the multinational oil companies, effectively giving them control over Iraqi oil.

It seems to mean we will be in Iraq for decades protecting the profits of the multinational oil companies.

Seems outright criminal to me.

What do you all think?

1. Absolutely criminal.
And it proves that the real reasons for the invasion -- if anyone had any serious doubts -- are oil and U.S./corporate dominance in the ME.

2. Dennis Kucinich spoke for over one hour on the House floor against privatizing Iraq's oil
His presentation was broadcast by C-SPAN. Dennis had all kinds of charts showing clearly that this war was about OIL, and continues to be about OIL.

Shame on all those that voted for this colonial bill!

3. The problem is Iraq has a Shia majority...

If the Shia had their way they might be favoring Europe, China or the East over American oil companies. Ideally, for all of Iraq, what they need to do is let Iraq own all the oil profits, but be required to sell on the open market where all customers are treated equally. Iraqis suffered greatly under Saddam and now they suffer greatly under American occupation...they deserve this (and probably much more).

4. Unconscionable!
You DUers are correct - it's absolutely criminal, and unconscionable.

5. And at the low-low-low cost of only 1000 soldiers lives a year!
My God, that's a steal!
