I'm not a supporter of either of them, but think that, if they win the nomination, either one will be our next president. And I, for one, would be absolutely thrilled with either a black or female president.
It just seems to me that, the left side caterwauling notwithstanding, this war is seen as a Republican War, as is almost every ill that currently plagues our country.
The Republics, as usual, have overplayed their hand. They wanted the country to appear to be supportive of the Bush boy to an extent similar to that which Saddam would have had the world believe he was supported by the Iraqi people(s).
The downside of that is that now that the US has, essentially, turned to a nation in crisis in so many areas, those crises are almost universally seen as the result of Republic actions.
One need only look at the fund raising to date for not only president, but also for Congress and local offices, to see more evidence. Our side has raised more than a couple hundred million more! That's almost unheard of.
I could go on and on to make this case, but no doubt you understand what I mean.
In this kind of climate, most any *credible* Dem will win once nominated.
Between Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, and the as-yet-and-maybe-never-announced candidates, I still find myself without a credible Dem in the race.
Come on Barak. Come on Hillary. Win me over.
