Thoughts on impeachment
I have 2 schools of thoughts on impeachment. I truly believe we need to impeach if for no other reason than to keep the next President, whoever it is from straying from where the constitution is. However, in the short term, if Bush is impeached, the great swath of uneducated voters who are only on the surface will think it is just payback for Clinton. No matter how far from the truth that is. Remember the Democrtats picked up seats in 98 due to the impeachment backlash. In a lot of ways, that's why it was brilliant politics for the rethugs to impeach Clinton. The Dems could never impeach any Rethug President without the charge of "Payback" being bantied about. Personally, I believe Bush needs to be impeached for pissing on the constitution in so many ways. The issue is which violation of the constitution do we nail him on?

1. Don't worry about payback - Republicans blatantly admitted that

the impeachment of Clinton was payback for Nixon. They wanted to even the score as if people were too stupid to understand the difference about lying re sex vs. the taking over of the Justice Dept as in the Saturday Night Massacre.

I think what John Dean said has the most weight with me - if impeachment gets off the ground - Dick and George cannot claim Exec Privilege - they have to turn over enerything and be questioned without recourse to any of their present predatory-destructive acts.
