Obama calls for Untier in White House

COLUMBIA, S.C. -

In a slap at his chief rival, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Thursday the most important asset the next president can offer is the ability to unite the country.

The Illinois senator did not mention Hillary Rodham Clinton, but sought to make the case the U.S. cannot afford a divisive commander in chief after George W. Bush's two terms.

"The reason that this president has failed to lead this country is because he hasn't been able to unite our country. He's polarized us when he should have pulled us together," Obama said in a speech at the College Democrats of America convention at the University of South Carolina. "That's why the experience we need in the next president is the ability to bring this country together.

"It's not enough to just change parties," Obama said.

Despite being viewed unfavorably by nearly half the public, Clinton is ahead of Obama in national and most state polls in the Democratic primary race.

We aren't going to have progressive change if we are busy bending over backwards to appease right-wingers.

I've never gotten that uniting the country bit. I'm not interested in coming together with the right (as in right-wing). And trying to unite those on opposite ends of the political spectrum is certainly not the most important job of our next president.

The most important thing is to preserve the constitution and hold accountable the criminals in chief destroying this country. Obama's namby pamby "can't we all just get along" meme will do nothing but put a bandaid on a gangrenous infection on the body politic. What we need is an amputation of the republicons. He will let bygones be bygones and rethuglicans will return with a vengeance like a bad horror movie. Just like Cheney and Rumsfeld from the Nixon administration, these vampires need a stake driven through their chests--right where their hearts are missing.

Unite all you want. As long as it is around the constitution and prison time for law breakers.
