YouTube debate for GOP looking iffy.....
Some Republicans are wavering: It looks as if the Republican candidates for president may not have to answer questions from a snowman anytime soon, as their Democratic counterparts did this week.

Plans for a CNN/YouTube debate for the GOP seemed to be falling apart Thursday after front-runner Rudy Giuliani said scheduling conflicts would keep him away from the planned Sept. 17 face-off, although an aide said discussions were continuing about a possible alternate date. Formal invitations went out Thursday.

Another top Republican, Mitt Romney, has been cool to the forum's format. "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman," Romney told the Manchester Union Leader in New Hampshire.

During the Democrats' debate on Monday, a video submitted by Greg and Nathan Hamel of Minneapolis featured a snowman posing a question about climate change.

2. Ron Paul: How a Fringe Politician Took Over the Web
http://www.wired.com/politics/onlinerights/news/2007/06/ron_

Paul's YouTube channel has been viewed over one million times, dwarfing efforts from competitors like John McCain and Rudy Giuliani. The Ron Paul internet boom has born everything from Belgians for Ron Paul to a reggae music video promoting Paul's views on monetary policy and habeas corpus.

3. Ha! I knew it!! They'd all be dead meat after the YouTubers got done with them.
At least the Dems had a sense of humor. The repugs are probably scared sh*tless to face real people, like the cancer survivor pulling off her wig and asking tough questions about health care. I'll bet if they do it after all, they'll have their "own" YouTubers and keep any genuine person OUT.

4. What if Wolf Blitzer dressed up like the snowman and threw softballs?

Would that make the GPOigs feel at ease?

We could have two snowmans: Blitzer and Russert.

Russert's head looks round enough that he wouldn't even have to dress up for the part.

6. I can See How They Would be worried
We are talking about taking questions from ordinary people, the people who are not their base.

Sounds like they are quite full of themselves, and don't have a sense of humor either. Can't take a question from a "snowman?" Don't they realize a real person was asking the question?

But taking questions from people on the Internet is their worst nightmare. Where do you think all of the people who have gone who see the whole media, as just an extension of the Republican Party?

8. i guess the repugs are just too elite to take questions
from the citizenry.

better for us since it is the young demographic that will mostly watch . . . or not. maybe they already know they cannot get the youth vote . . . or the black vote or the muslim vote or the hispanic vote . . .

maybe they know the fix is already in!
