Joe Biden's New Hampshire chair takes shot at Obama
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/07/27/294094.aspx

MSNBC - The Day in Politics
Friday, July 27, 2007

Here's an interesting shot Joe Biden's New Hampshire chair took at Obama yesterday. There's a charge buried in here, but it's implied not direct. We'll let you, the readers, connect the dots.

State Rep. Jim Ryan issued a statement following Paul Hodes' endorsement of Obama: "I am deeply disappointed by the comments of Senator Obama this morning. It does not say a lot for Obama's opinion of New Hampshire officials if he thinks that our endorsements can be bought and sold for 'favors.’

We take pride in New Hampshire of the fact that we look beyond the hype and the money and really focus on where all the candidates stand on the issues. Our last two Democratic presidents started off low in the polls, however they won in New Hampshire based on the merits of their ideas.”

“Obama said he was proud to have Hodes' endorsement,” the Boston Globe notes, “but conceded he would not have near the number of endorsements that other candidates, like Hillary Clinton will have.

“‘We haven't been in Washington all that long and we haven't traded that many favors,’ Obama said.”

I noticed in the endorsement announcement the last comment by Sen. Obama might be seen as .......something most candidates wouldn't have said.

Rep. Ryan seems to have taken this comment as I did. Sen Obama seems to believe endorsements come from trading favors and if he had been in Washington longer, he would have more.

I posted this yesterday and there seemed to be some confusion about the meaning of the Senator's comment.

Rep. Ryan got it and now, the media has it and I don't think there's anyone (else) to blame, this time......

I could be wrong.

3. Ryan is wrong.
Obama cannot help himself because that's what he truly believes. And it sounds great. If people are going to criticize him because of his "lack of experience", then he may as well use that to his advantage, don't you think?

8. Great...well keep on keepin on then...
I think it is an unusual strategy to insult other Democrats so sweepingly...but if he thinks that is a winner for him...go for it!!!!

4. Obama is being a hypocrite on this.
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 02:51 PM by rinsd
Since he just made Hodes one of his national co-chairs enabling a networking and visibility oppoutunity not commonly available to a freshman Congressman.

In March there was a bruhaha about Hillary paying Darrel Jackson's (an influential Democrat in SC) media company $10K a month. She actually outbid Obama who offered $5K a month.

18. Couldn't come at a better time for Hillary...
Obama will say he was just kidding.. His spoiled child-like sense of humor is getting very old.

And here's a side of Obama we've never seen...

How UNpresidential is that?

6. Obama is in danger of flaming out like Dean
if he keeps this up, holy moly, tons of miscues, they just keep coming. If Obama goes after Clinton like he has lately in the next Dem debate it will be the capper. Can you imagine Obama getting in her face on national tv? Yikes!

14. Your concern is touching.
Hillary launched an unprovoked attack on Obama and he is merely responding. Quite effectively, too.

7. I don't see what's wrong with this comment.
Obama is correct. They most endorsements come from the front-runner bandwagon effect. That's why Dean had so many good endorsements last time.

17. The OP is clear.......however,
1. New Hampshire State Rep.Paul Hodes endorsed Sen. Obama.

2. Sen. Obama made "his" remarks about endorsements and favor trading during "his" comments of appreciation regarding "his" (only) New Hampshire endorsement.

3. New Hampshire State Rep. Jim Ryan is Sen. Biden's NH Chair.

4. New Hampshire State Rep. Jim Ryan didn't like the comments.(see below)

5. This has nothing to do with Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, Gravel, Kucinich, Richardson...

Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 04:35 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
The hypocrisy from some in the Obama camp is amusing. They cite polls to dismiss any candidate below Obama in the polls but then cry bloody murder and claim the polls are invalid or even rigged when it comes them showing HRC leading Obama (or Edwards and HRC leading him in Iowa)...

23. Biden is more experienced and qualified than both of them!
Shillary and Barack couldn't hold a candle to him. He is actually doing his job in Washington while they do nothing but hit the campaign trail.
