8. Thompson's 1) intellectually lazy 2) poor fund-raiser 3) abortion flip flopper 4) lobbyist
and he reminds the Republican base that they cannot stand Romney (who's likely to win their nomination) or Giuliani (who's the second most likely also ran who could pull off a minor upset to win their nomination) or McCain (who would be their strongest general election candidate but whose campaign has collapsed beyond repair).

Hollywood Fred is a dream come true: a Republican candidate who reminds Republican primary voters how poorly their top tier candidates reflect their crazy misguided values but who is also a candidate that cannot win because he has 1) no campaign organization on the ground, 2) insufficient funds to make up for his lack of a campaign on the ground, and 3) a record as a lobbyist which will be hard to defend in their primary. Hollywood Fred has zero chance in Iowa (which Romney will likely win) and zero chance in New Hampshire (which Romney will likely win) so where is Hollywood Fred's campaign going to take off? The answer is nowhere.

Hollywood Fred promises an alternative which he cannot deliver which is very dispiriting to the Republicans who are desperate for an alternative to Rudy McRomney.

Why don't we want him to run?

10. Not surprised....
They pulled it when things started looking bad for their boy.

This paper's owner is so much of a coward that he caved to
local Repug party pressure, and allows them to write
pro-* editorials under the guise of it being the consensus
opinion of the paper's editorial board.

But thanks for trying!

11. I didn't like Thompson to start with, but I'm kind of shocked at how
SICK of him I am already.

I hope he flames out early and leaves us all the hell alone.
