Edwards agrees with the Biden/Gelb Plan for Iraq
Today he also suggested that it might make sense to carve Iraq into autonomous Sunni, Shiite and Kurdish regions, but that Iraqis would have to make that decision for themselves. (Democratic presidential candidate Senator Joe Biden has long been a vocal advocates of such a plan. Mr. Biden is expected to visit Iraq this week.)

--------------

You know - Biden predicted that eventually all the candidates would endorse his plan.

So far -
Edwards
Richardson
Obama

And even little Sammy Brownbeck

1. Biden was current on the Middle East before Dubya could find it on a map.
Good for Joe Biden for being there before anybody and good for John Edwards for endorsing a good plan.

Bush has left a pile of smoking rubble along the Tigris Euphrates valley. Time for some grown-ups to move in and start the clean up.

4. Sounds pretty darn good to me. I'm right behind you in the precinct line
to vote for either version of that ticket.

3. Good, I liked the Biden plan, when I read the whole thing.
And now I can have the Biden plan without having to switch to supporting Joe Biden.

6. The most important part of the statement
"but that Iraqis would have to make that decision for themselves"

If we are simply speaking in an advisory capacity, its fine to discuss possible solutions to Iraq's sectarian problems. But we have no right to tell Iraq what to do. The people if Iraq must have the final say in this, because if they do not, any imposed solution will simply cause more problems regardless of how well meaning a solution it is.

10. And I applaud him for doing so.
But from the scant coverage I have seen by the MSM of his plan, they always seem to imply he wants the US to dictate it. Not that they ever lie or anything.

7. Many of us have saying this for months
I think that Biden was talking about 21 different areas.

And I agree with Maliki, I think, who bristles at this suggestion, saying that this if for the Iraqis to determine.

So let's have another election there and put this proposal on the ballot.

9. It's been long acknowledged it could come to this
Whether or not it's the most beneficial solution has been disputed, but nobody should be surprised it's gaining acceptance.
