Bush: Bin Laden’s video underscores threats
Al-Qaida chief criticizes Dems over Iraq, urges Americans to embrace Islam

NBC News and news services
Updated: 1 minute ago

SYDNEY, Australia - President Bush said Saturday that Osama bin Laden's first video appearance in three years is a reminder of "the dangerous world in which we live."

"It's important that we show resolve and determination to protect ourselves, to deny al-Qaida safe haven and support young democracies, which will be a major defeat to their ambitions," Bush said about the video released just days before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a 30-minute speech addressed to Americans, bin Laden boasts about the impact of the 2001 attacks, mocks the democratic system of government in the United States and lambastes the Bush administration for initiating the war in Iraq. The video was obtained by the U.S. government, NBC News and other news organizations Friday.

"I found it interesting that on the tape, Iraq was mentioned, which is a reminder that Iraq is a part of this war against extremists," Bush said. "If al-Qaida bothers to mention Iraq, it's because they want to achieve their objectives in Iraq, which is to drive us out and to develop a safe haven. And the reason they want a safe haven is to launch attacks against America or any other ally."

2. Why yes I do....if OBL is alive I think the administration is funding

them somehow....the Admin will not go after Saudi Arabia....I don't think it's just the oil....I think they are in cahoots with them....

The US should have forced Suadi Arabia's hand to get OBL and turn him over....

Why don't the Tapes come out lets say two months ago...May, June, July...? They are saying the tapes were made two months ago....

Don't you find it interesting that OBL mentions the Democratic Congress specifically?

3. YES...that "Democrats have failed" crap came straight from the Oval Office.
I've never been too far down the "tinfoil hat" scale, but how the HELL could anyone read that MSNBC article and the astute political observations of Osama binAsshole and NOT smell a rat?

How the HELL could someone not see the "CONVENIENCE" of OBL simply HANDING Bush his long-desired "Iraq connection?"

The American people may have been stupid enough to allow two terms of George W. Bush, but I'm hoping they're smart enough to see through THIS tripe.

The smart money is on the fact that binLaden is dead, and has been dead for a while. Either that, or...as Bernie Ward likes to say...he's staying at a nice Las Vegas resort on the dime of U.S. taxpayers.

6. What do you think rove has been doing for the last week of so
he had to have his hand in something, so he made this tape and instead of sending it to youtube he got mixed up and automatically sent it to bush.
