Were you really upset?

I suppose by now you have either read about or have seen the film clip where a comedy team (The Chaser) managed to fool security at the APEC conference with a fake motorcade where one of the passengers was dressed as Osama Bin Laden. The officials were most embarrassed and said that it was a very sick joke and would have upset most Americans because of 9/11.

Most polls held in Australia since then had up to 90% thinking that it was very funny and not offensive to anyone.

If it achieved anything, at least it embarrassed our host (Howard)

Do you know that in a speech Bush thanked Howard for our "Austrian" troops and that he was very happy to be at the "OPEC" conference.

That would give Bush nightmares for months. You've already got the paranoia, now dead people are after him? He'd fall apart.

What a shame both leaders (Howard and Bush) are both on the outer and the opportunity may never arise again. However, I suppose if Sadam can, anything is possible.

Whats in a name. Waiting to take over the leadership of the Liberal (misnamed) Party when Howard goes are either Abbott or Costello. If one becomes leader there is major possibility that the other will be deputy leader. Wont we have fun with that.

During that time we should be in the middle of an election campaign. If they are jailed (and there is a real possibility of that) they will be martyrs. Howard is already running neck and neck with Bush in the polls for unpopularity, so it will be very interesting to see what happens. I think all hell will break loose if they are not acquitted.

I'm pleased to know that there are Americans that share our warped sense of humor.

especially since they managed to get as far as they did by using a fake motorcade flying the Canadian flag.....it tickles me.

Their rationale was that they couldn't possibly fake an American motorcade with its huge, big-assed protective cars, ten or eleven of them. They thought that Canada would be more modest!

Funny having Aussie officials "use" 911 - quite the way the Chimpadministration would use it - always the excuse for their bullying tactics.

On at least one number plate of the motorcade was MUFTY. Also, on their fake security cards it had INSECURITY. Thats what 16 hundred million dollars worth of security buys.
