And you can bet that wire-tapper Bush and his CIA-boss father know all the dirty details. Do you doubt Bush would use threats of exposure to influence voting -- say, on matters of impeachment?
Suppose you're a Dem politician with a "scandal" in his past facing threat of exposure by Bush. Do you think that folks like us -- progressive net-rooters, DUers -- would turn on you with the same unholy glee we're showing with Craig, Foley, Gannon, Vitter, etc.
The answer is: Absolutely not. The difference is the GOP's hypocrisy.
If you're keeping a mistress, or you stabbed someone in a bar fight 40 years ago, or you borrowed from a client's escrow fund, or your grandfather was in the mafia, or you're secretly gay, or some other "scandal" -- don't think that we would judge you by the same harsh standards as we do these family-value goody-goods caught in their lies.
And, folks, let's not be a group marked by over-excitement at other people's sexual pecadilloes. That's the other team. We have to focus on fixing the economy, rebuilding the infrastructure, dealing with climate change, and repairing our international relationships.
(I'm feeling serious, sipping wine this Saturday night.)
