This was on C-span so I don't have a link. Due to that I will not name the candidate who said this. All I will say is it was not a "top-tier" candidate and it wasn't Richardson (who has been pressing Clobama on this issue)... This candidate was talking on a C-Span replay about how many troops would be needed in Iraq for basic force protection, training the Iraqi military, and counter-terrorism operations (all things Clobama wish to do). The interesting thing is he, ever the straight shooter, offered a specific number. He said it would take about 50,000 troops to do these things. If true, Clobama should be straight with the voters and tell them they want to keep 50,000 troops in Iraq indefinitely. It is disingenuous to say you will "end the war" when you will keep that many troops in Iraq for an unspecified length of time.
