"Beware of Cooking the Books"
From the Union Leader:

"Delaware Sen. Joe Biden says Gen. David Petraeus is not “betraying us,” as a liberal activist group charges, but the Democratic presidential hopeful does not reject charges that the military commander is using selected statistics to do the White House’s bidding."

3. I'll kick this. Everybody should see every thread about it.
Frankly, if they don't like wordplay being used on David Patraeus, then they shouldn't hand us a straight line (name) like that. What were we supposed to do with a name like Patraeus and a build-up like this, where all the advance word was that the White House was going to vet it first, that it wasn't even going to be a "report" per se, that most people don't believe it anyway and that most of what it said was cherry-picking and books-cooking? I think it's a rather clever pun, myself. Patraeus/Betrayus. It works for me. Another general whose reputation and decades of service and life's work has been chewed up and spit out by bush. GEEZ, he fucks up everything and everyone he touches, doesn't he?

4. Its okay when they do it, BUT
God forbid anyone else does!

Bush does have a way of destroying people. We can look forward to a decade of "tell all" books, though I don't know how much more I want to know about these people. Its like a bad movie that never ends - not even an intermission!

6. There will be mountains of "tell all" books. From ALL corners. All the
usual suspects and many more.

There'll be the White House insiders in two categories: 1) the we were right, deal with it type and 2) the these schmucks played me for a chump type. There will be other subgroups like 3) Leaking for Fun and Profit, 4) A whole series of Executive Privilege for Dummies, The Idiot's Guide to Hogtying Congress and Shredding the Constitution and 5) Lincoln Bedroom Stories (by jeff gannon)

There'll be the victims. The assassins. The Democrats. The tortured. The US attorneys and others from the I Was Screwed Club. The converts: 1) I saw the light and changed my mind about the war!; 2) I found Jesus and realized He really wasn't george bush; 3) I REALLY believed, I STILL believe; 4) I told you so/I knew it all along; 5) 9/11! 9/11! 9/11!

There'll be the press. Much the same as above: 1) I was LIED TO!!! GASP!!! 2) I Knew It All Along 3) Why All Those Other News Reporters Were Silenced 4) I Thought For Sure... 5) I Really Really Tried to Tell the Truth, It Just Didn't Sound That Way 6) What kkkarl rove Has on the Big Names in Washington 7) Newswriting for Spinners

Several spouses will also write their own confessionals about how rough it was when alberto was dragged off to testify in Congress over and over and over.

And all the people they've fired or screwed or scapegoated will have plenty of stories to tell.

I just hate that it'll mean reliving the whole agonizing experience LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGG after it's supposedly "over." You think you're shouting "ENOUGH!" - now? :eyes:

7. Ah, we have the same vision of the future
And there will be those who will just flat out lie and make up some juicy little tidbits in order to cash in on the frenzy. FOX news will undergo a metamorphosis, as if they were never pro-Bush and pro-war to recoup their lost ratings.

I wonder how many disgruntled people are writing their books already as they glare at their medal of Freedom!

9. Yeah, I'd expect a lot of "epiphanies" - especially if criminal charges
ever come down. All of a sudden you'll get the "Sorry, george who?" masterpieces. (Or is that masturbations?) There'll be a whole lot of "I NEVER trusted him" from people who were once busily licking the bottoms of his shoes.

Pox Noise will probably settle in with the 25-percenters and cling to what shreds of audience are left. There will be that one unreachable sliver of souls who can't be saved. They'll be a lot more comfortable sticking by their illusions, rather than face the truth - that they gave themselves over to the Dark Side, and that they were ROYALLY had - falling for everything these people dished out as fast as the twin towers collapsed.

george will probably wind up learning about all his nice new fair weather friends. If he's not brought to some sort of justice, actively, there will be the passive repercussions of simply being out of power and being regarded as not part of the "in crowd" anymore. Nobody jockeying for power, as we have all over Washington DC, in and out of government (and that includes the press), will be eager to hitch their wagons to a has-been. They'll all be running around whoring themselves to whoever IS in power at that time, and the Worst pResident in History will be relegated to the "he used to be somebody" category. While he's no doubt getting himself packed off to safety in extradition-proof Paraguay.

10. Yeah, he'll be treated with the same regard
as he treated Kenny-Boy!

He'll hole away at his ranch, deluding himself that history will judge him fairly, even if the world doesn't. He honestly thinks he'll be seen as a 21st century Churchill! He's not wrong, he's just misunderstood! He'll write a book, that nobody will read. He'll wait in vain for those speaking engagements that never come, which is okay because he'll be too paranoid to ever step foot off his ranch. No one will visit him, not even Billo and Rush! He will drink heavily, pray feverishly, and clear brush with a frenzied passion! If she has a half a brain, Laura will leave him in disgust!

Bush won't show up in the news for years, until he passes on.

8. Following the Constitution he must do what his CIC asks.
To do anything other than that he'd have to consult his lawyer -- or Gonzales.

Commander-in-chief versus the first establishment of the Constitution. Tough call.
