If someone with a Conservative/Far Right bent wanted to run an ad criticizing Edwards on healthcare
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 06:48 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
And they titled it

Breck Girl' s position on Health Care

would you read it?

I wouldn't.

And I wouldn't give a shit how thoughtful the analysis was about his positions on healthcare. Because at that particular point they don't deserve to be read.

Sorry to state the obvious, but I am drawing an analogy to the MoveOn ad. Freepers will chortle and read the thing the whole way through. Anyone else would just roll their eyes and sigh in disgust that our political discourse has come to this.

(edited for clarification)

2. Hair care has no bearing on health care
But a military general lying to please his commander in chief rather than telling him and the people he's supposed to be protecting the truth IS a form of betrayal.

3. But can/should all discussion be distilled in this fashion?
General Petreaus = General Betray Us
John Edwards - Breck Girl

Rush Limbaugh calls Harry Reid "Dingy Harry" - he WON'T use the man's name in any discussion about him.

If I thought hard enough I could come up with many others.

This is the path to madness - these "nicknames" that are shorthand for incohernet political prejudice.

I hate to sound like your mother, but because they jump off a cliff, do we have to as well?

4. How about an ad with John Edwards in large
quotes along the top-

"It requires that everybody be covered. It requires that everybody get preventive care"
" You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK."

5. It's called an "analogy" .
A hint - I wasn't really posting a thread about Edward's healthcare position.

7. But didn't you read the chapter in Gore's "Assault on Reason"
about the merits of 3rd grade style name calling?

9. Apparently many DUers believe
that namecalling and accusations of treason are sound political strategy when it's done against Republicans.
