"If he ran I'd vote for Al Gore."
I went out to dinner tonight with my friend and her dad. The words in the subject line were spoken by her 86 year old, life long Republican father. He did crack in 2004 and vote for Kerry but he considered it a vote against Bush. That was the first and, to date, only time in his life that he'd voted for a Democrat. But he actually likes Gore and is totally unimpressed with anyone else running.

2. That's not the same as running
I think if he wants to run, he will. If he doesn't, he won't.

I think attempting to "draft" an unwilling candidate is dumb.

Also, that way, he'd run as a third-party/independent, effectively splitting the vote and electing the republican. Dumb idea.

5. I guess the strategy is to put him on enough states that he'd
be encourage to run.

12. I have no reason to believe
it would be anything close to a cakewalk for Gore. In fact, I think if he announced tomorow and ran as vigorous a campaign as he could, there's a good chance he still wouldn't secure the nomination.

17. yes
they have been running for a long time, which is why it would be very difficult for any candidate to join now.

24. Commonplace
Up until 1968 it used to be common place to "draft" candidates. In fact that was the purpose of party conventions--to pick a candidate. Now, we use this ridiculous, retarded, fucked system where Iowa and New Hampshire get to pick the losing democratic candidate. It seems to me the dem party was stronger and had better candidates before the primary system. Go figure.

10. For obvious reasons
and why do you care if it's on the greatest page when
the title is grossly misleading and subsequent posts are
clearly from your cohorts?

I guess I won't post anymore Al Gore news here.

I ask why.... you say for obvious reasons. When it's obvious they aren't obvious to me.

you say cohorts... I say motivated supporters.

I made changes. The title is fine. I see you're making trouble elsewhere too.

I think we are done here.

19. My dad says the same thing.
He's a staunch Republican, a fiscal conservative, & hasn't voted for a Dem since Kennedy, but he cares deeply about the environment & hopes Al Gore will run.

25. My dad, he's 77, calls and asks if Gore is running yet
My dad. My dad who stopped caring about politics the day RFK died. My dad who finally registered to vote again in 2004. My dad said he's worried about his grandkids and thinks Gore is the only one with a plan, a real plan, for the future.

26. I can relate thats why I do this
I am a grand mom, semi retired and do all this for my kids and grand kids. My kids are all busy working fulltime and raising kids, driving back and forth after work to soccer and other after school stuff, homework, etc and don't barely have a moment to breathe so I finally am done with all that and have time to fight for them.
