"Friday Night Live! will feature the sounds of gospel music"...seems odd
Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 02:49 PM by madfloridian
to have religious bands as the ones playing at the weekly street party downtown. Do other cities do this? Or is it common to our area of Florida?

Our city has bands and street dancing weekly downtown, but not religious rock bands.

"Friday Night Live! will feature the sounds of gospel music when Lake Wales Main Street partners with the Lake Wales Assembly of God on September 21st. On the slate to perform are: Adonai, Praise Hymn Quartet, and The Lake Wales Christian Rock Band. All the gospel acts will be performing in the Market Place from 6-9 pm.

For the secular crowd, Bryan Rivers will be entertaining in front of the Rhodesbilt Arcade on Stuart Ave. Bryan will be playing his original songs from his first two albums plus standards from Beatles to Buffett."

So I guess if I don't like Christian Rock, that makes me part of the secular crowd? Just has an odd feel to it.

On edit..nothing really about the type of music, just the setting for it. Not a critique of the music, just whether the setting is appropriate.

1.  i like gospel ...
christian rock sucks. christian rock bands are bands that totally sucked in the secular world but find a following in the christian world.

i can`t think of any fest i`ve been to that had both secular and christian music...

3. That really was not what I meant.
It is not meant to be critical of the music, but the street party setting with religious music.

The old secular religious stuff that divides us.
